Raspberry Pi 2 for a music player?

Would it be a bad idea to use a raspberry pi 2 for a music player? Like it has all your flac music on an SD card and it outputs the audio signal to a DAC and amp which go to speakers and headphones in your living room or bedroom, for example.

I don't see any problem with it, as long as the USB port provides clean power to the DAC. Digital is digital, playing it through $3000 AK240SS wont make any difference

So long as you don't use the onboard audio, sure. The onboard is absolute crap, though what is to be expected with a $35 product?

I stream media from my NAS to my raspi2 using openelec/kodi.

Haven't had any problems recently.

 

I had some stutters with audio on my raspi 1 using my ibasso d4, but that was an early preorder so it was the older ones with 256mb of ram.

I don't know if there were software updates to help out or not.

Will work for electronic components and parts

I've actually been considering doing something similar. I think you would be just fine, I don't know why you would have any issues, as the raspi 2 should have capable enough hardware to run audio.
