My Gigabyte Reference 980 started to get coil whine, but in a weird way.

Go to solution Solved by Enderman,

Apparently you do not understand what coil whine is...

It is random

you cannot predict what card will have it or not

you also cannot predict what kind of coil whine it will be

quiet, loud, high pitches, low pitched, intermittent, during a certain program only, during a certain time of the day, during rainy weather, etc...

it is impossible to predict and it just happens you get coil whine during video playback

there is no such thing as "normal" coil whine

all you can do is live with it

there is no risk of anything happening

Hey, so my GTX 980 just started to get noticeable coil whine when doing something simple like watching a video on youtube. Should i be concern, it just started to do this today. I get that coil whine is normal but, on a video. It does not do it when i play games.

This.

Also, coil whine is used to describe any sort of whining noise, caused by something like a fan, inductor, or even the die of a GPU.
