Minecraft Server HELP! c:

Guest
Go to solution Solved by Guest,

Bought a 4-5 person server because no one was able to assist me any further,

Hey guys!

I was trying to start a server so that I could play with a few friends. I went through a whole setup process, and I was able to create a server. I also port forwarded like a YouTube video I watched said to. When I log into Minecraft with my IPv4, the server works just fine. I also have the Java window running, which allows the server to run as well. I tried joining with my public IP address to see if it will allow others to join, but I have not had any luck. I had a friend of mine try to log in using my public IP as well, and she has not had any luck joining either. I keep getting a message that says "java.net.connectexception: connection refused." It won't give me any further information on this error. I was wondering if anyone knew had to solve this problem. I know my internet sucks, so I believe it may just be my modem or router possibly. Thanks in advance for your help!

OK,

go to Canyouseeme.org and see if port 25565 is open.

Also can you post a screenshot of server.properties?

Also, try running it in a bat

You port forwarded on your router both TCP and UDP?

Yes, I did on both.

It said that the connection timed out while trying to check that port.

You should make sure you have good enough upload speeds if you want to have a server you can check it using this

http://www.speedtest.net/

You want to have a upload speed of around 1Mbps and a semi decent ping if you dont want to have lag.

Your port is not forwarded.

If it was, it would come up with some green text...

Otherwise, leave server ip blank.

You should be set then :)

Yeah, I don't. I have some of the worst Internet speeds, but I thought I would give it a try. I figured it would at least connect even if it did lag some.

So will I not be able to port forward? I copied everything I thought I was supposed to, and it isn't working correctly.

Can you tell me the steps you followed to port forward?

Can you tell me the steps you followed to port forward?

1) I entered my router IP address into the search bar.

2) I went to the Apps & Gaming bar and went to Single Port Fowarding.

3) I typed in MC as the App Name (I know it doesn't matter).

4) I entered in the external and internal port (25565).

5) I clicked 'Both' as the protocol.

6) I entered in my IPv4 address into the IP address slot.

7) Checked off enabled.

8) And saved my settings.

I also tried to make two different ports following the same steps, but I made one TCP and one UDP. I did not have any luck.

It should be okay if its just a few friends but try to keep it under 4-5.

Yeah, I'm not gonna have a lot of people on the server anyway. That isn't really the problem though; they aren't able to connect to the server itself. I've checked to see if the port is forwarded, and it is apparently not. I don't know if I'm taking the right steps to do it or not.
