Monitor Suggestion?

monjanger

I am looking into 1440P as I have money to spend on a monitor. I am choosing between the LG 34UC97 and the Asus RoG Swift PG278Q. I am also considering the Acer Predator XB27OHU. I like the LG considering the curve and the IPS pannel. Although its 60HZ and sadly dose not support G-SYNC. For the Asus Rog Swift it has thin bezels (hoping to have a triple monitor setuP) 144hz, G-Sync but lacks an IPS pannel and from reviews, has a very high chance of getting a bad monitor. Now for the Acer monitor, it has 144HZ, its G-Sync capable, and it has most of the things I do like. The main thing holding me back though is the design. My ideal monitor would be 21:9, 1440P and G-Sync. The 144HZ is just a benefit as I won't be able to get above 60FPS. The main reason I like it is it makes the monitor very future proof.

Questions: My only question is playing games and movies in 21:9 still weird and not supported? EDIT: Are there any upcoming monitors I should be waiting for?

Thanks!

Acer has an upcoming 21:9, 1440p, G-sync, IPS, Curved, 144hz (or 75hz according to some recent reports) monitor that will supposedly be out in the US around September. It's called the Predator XR341CK 34″ and the price point is supposedly going to be around $1,300. Not sure if that's within your range but it will be an option....one that I am waiting for myself.

I cant imagine movies being unsupported in 21:9... as movies are in 21:9 almost always nowadays.

Gaming is mostly supported and everything nowadays just works. Stuff that isnt can be fixed with 3rd party tools and such. A very little amount of games refuse to work at all.

People who say this the other way around usually havent used 21:9 and are of the same sort who say "you cant see more than 30fps".

I think if you want to really fall in love with gaming again - you gotta get a 21:9 with F/A/Gsync (and monitor which has that will always be flicker free and have IPS or VA also)

This is the current list of released and known upcoming 21:9`s with some kind of sync:

LG 29um67 - 29inch, IPS, 2560x1080, 75hz, freesync
LG 34um67 - 34inch, IPS, 2560x1080, 75hz, freesync
Acer xr341ck - 34inch, IPS, 3440x1440, 75hz, freesync
Acer xr341cka - 34inch, IPS, 3440x1440, 75hz, gsync
Acer z35 - 35inch, VA, 2560x1080, 144hz, gsync
Benq xr3501 - 35inch, VA, 2560x1080, 144hz, no?-sync

Ill wait to see the finished product first. If its mat black and comes with those features its a yes. Also, im fine with waiting until September as it is just above me budget (200$ More). so this will give me time to set some money aside for the monitor.
