can run FX8320 on h81m-p33?

Lol no.

Just a flat no :P

The H81 motherboard is LGA 1150 while the FX820 is AM3+. Wont work. Dont try it please.

No.

They are two different sockets for two different brands of CPU. The h81m-p33 is for Intel's socket LGA1150. The 8320 is AMD's socket AM3+. Look for a 990FX motherboard if you want to run that CPU. Dont even try to put the CPU in there. You'll break either it or the motherboard.

It would be like putting diesel in a gasoline car.

For the FX 8320? Do you have the CPu already?

If you want that CPU, you probably need/want a 990X motherboard, because that is the best for overclocking it.

(But the FX CPU is not that good for gaming though now.)

Bought it already....

Return It.

Buy better. When it comes to Gaming as a priority, Intel is the way to go.

AMD will play games, but 4/5, some games perform like shit on AMD cores when its a game with a lightly threaded nature (using 1-2 cpu's MAX),.. yet the similarly priced Intel rig has zero issues playing 5/5, because even only two CPU's are being used,.. each Intel core is 1.6x faster than each AMD core.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

You can't put a AMD CPU on a Intel motherboard.

you use to be able to. when the socket was the same for both.

Back in the time of the dinosaurs. Not for a good 10+ years.

The cheapest motherboard I would pair with an FX-8 core CPU is the Gigabye GA-970A-UD3P (not any other version of the board). It's uses the cheaper chipset (970), but has the 8+2 VRMs necessary to drive that power hungry beast of a CPU. Anything less will likely give you problems down the road.

Ideally, you'd be able to return the CPU as it's not a good gaming CPU. For a workstation only machine, yes it's decent for the price, but for gaming it's not.

Just return it. And get an i5 or i3. It will be much better compared to AMD

Same product, but keep in mind that it's a customer return after it was opened. I have no knowledge of the seller so do your due diligence. I still recommend trying to return it and getting an i3 or i5 as that is a notably superior solution.

If you're gaming, the FX-8320 won't be able to keep up with the GTX 960 in some games. You have a few options depending on your budget for the platform.

Cheapest:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel Core i3-4160 3.6GHz Dual-Core Processor  (£86.95 @ Ebuyer)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-H81M-DS2 Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  (£37.88 @ CCL Computers)
Total: £124.83
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available
Generated by PCPartPicker 2015-05-28 20:41 BST+0100

Most Cost efficient: (significantly better performance)

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel Core i5-4460 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor  (£143.04 @ More Computers)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-H81M-DS2 Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  (£37.88 @ CCL Computers)
Total: £180.92
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available
Generated by PCPartPicker 2015-05-28 20:42 BST+0100

Best Performing:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor  (£165.89 @ Amazon UK)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler  (£24.48 @ Novatech)
Motherboard: ASRock Z97 Anniversary ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  (£62.36 @ Scan.co.uk)
Total: £252.73
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available
Generated by PCPartPicker 2015-05-28 20:42 BST+0100

Note: stock coolers are fine for stock clock speeds, but the last build is best for overclocking to get more performance, and so an aftermarket cooler is desired for the excess heat of overclocking.

For comparison's sake, this is the cost of the AMD FX-8 platform you were trying to get:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: AMD FX-8320 3.5GHz 8-Core Processor  ($134.99 @ SuperBiiz)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler  ($27.98 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P ATX AM3+ Motherboard  ($79.89 @ OutletPC)
Total: $242.86
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available
Generated by PCPartPicker 2015-05-28 15:44 EDT-0400

(again, this platform relies on overclocking for decent performance, so the aftermarket cooler is important).
