Setup an IP-Camera (PoE)

In this guide I want to show you how you can setup an IP-camera with PoE. I had a lot of trouble with my setup, but with the help of the forum i now know how to do it.
I used german links in this tutorial. If someone want to provide usa ones, i will add them
The Parts

  • Camera  (important: camera needs to support poe standard 802.3af)
    Hikvision DS-2CD2032-I 3MP   GER: http://ow.ly/NxYWa

  • PoE injector  (not needed if you have a poe-switch, but injectors are cheaper)
If you need only one Cam, you could buy this one:               TP-Link TL-PoE150S   GER: http://ow.ly/NxZTE
If you need more, like I did, you need something like this:  Alfa APOE08                  GER: http://ow.ly/Ny0Tq

  • PSU (only required if your injector doesn't come with one like my did)
You need to check the power port of the injector to know how the PSU needs to be dimensioned. The Alfa-Injector has 5,5mm outer 2.1mm inner diameter.
The PSU needs 48V DC. 1.25A should be enough for at least 5 cams(according to an amazon review).
PSU i bought: MikroTik Power Supply for RB800   GER: http://ow.ly/Ny5r3

  • Cables
You need one patch cable for the cam to the injector, and one from the injector into your home network..

Mounting
What you need to do should be self explanatory. Mount the Cam to a wall ceiling and plug the patch cable in. The other end of the cable comes into the PoE side of the injector. Power the injector with the 48V PSU. Now you just need to plug in a patch cable, which is connected to your home network, into the lan port of the injector and press that nice red button on top of the injector.
Software Setup

First you need to download Hikvision tools: http://overseas.hikvision.com/us/tools_82.html

Launch the program. Klick on SADP. It should find all the Cameras you have in your network. Klick on your Camera and give it a local IP. Klick on Save.(default PW is 12345) Now you can type the same IP into your browser, login with User:admin PW: 12345, and watch the Video.

(I will add more software stuff and stuff about saving the video when i finished setting mine up completely)
