DX12 improve todays games?

NJHourigan

When DX12 is released, will there be a increase in performance of games out today, such as gta v and dragon age inquisition?

Only those games made with Dx12 will benefit from it. Same as dx9 to dx10 to dx11... Only long-running games (MMOs such as WOW) update their engines, and only because its in their interest to do so.

Planning on trying StarCitizen (Highly recommended)? STAR-NR5P-CJFR is my referal link

What people don't realise is that DX12 WON'T BE IN EVERY GAME EVER RELEASED. If they update the games with DX12 support, then yeah it will bring performance increases, but if not, then... well.... no, because it doesn't exist in the game.

No because those games were made in DX11

Only new games made with DX12 in mind or games that are modified and updated with DX12 will benefit - and I bet no games get updated

Heck not all games will be DX12 even when it comes out, we might not have DX12 titles for a few years and even only a small percentage

It will be a couple of years before DX12's benefit is seen.  Particularly a major title needs to debut it.

Hopefully Crysis 4, back to the jungle  ;)

Even though dx12 has the biggest adoption rate ever by developers and it's not even out yet, it's not going to effect current game Performance down the road, just like booting up an old dx7 game doesn't take advantage of dx9 or dx11
