I know the title is wrong, it's just I don't know a name for it.

HOW DO I MAKE SURE I DON'T HAVE ANY THING LIKE THAT? It's a line from msconfig. I know I can turn this thing off out there, but I feel like I've got something else hiding.

Usually you'd follow the steps below this paragraph (for unremovable crapware/malware reappearing on startup), but In this case it's running cmd to launch a website. Google the site and see what software it promotes, and check if you have that software. If it's some game you play then there's your cause. Otherwise there's some other software which is running on startup or something and re-adding the entry. Once you find the cause, uncheck and delete the entry.

 

Find where it's pointing to, restart in safe mode, go to command prompt and end the process if it is there (try and match the name and location of the process in step A), delete the file, untick/delete that tick box in msconfig and restart. 

Once it's removed, to prevent it coming back, don't download dodgy things from dodgy sites, click adverts which pretend to be download links (or otherwise) or install software that comes included with other software (don't click fast through installers and make sure they are installing just what you want).

 

Following those rules has served me well over the past years and i haven't seen a single thing like that show up on my own PC.

(Other people's computers are a different story)

Well, that's what I've been doing for almost 15 years. It is literally the first time, I don't even know how, why and when. But yeah, I'll do that.

It's a line that opens a brower with a website on startup. It basically opened it. Also, I'm on win 7.
