LGA1150 Mobo Bent Socket Pins?

StreetcarTrixx

Hello all. First posting. So I need some help. Recently I picked up a MSI Z97S Krait Edition Motherboard with the LGA1150 socket.

Planning to order an CPU soon but not sure which one (help here too).

Umm, I was removing the black cover thing, and I noticed some of the pins looked off. I guess I started to freak out. The pic below is the socket.

I tried to straighten them the best I could, but I need a 2nd opinion. Should I rma the board? Or will it post?

Thanks in advance.

Can you take another picture but this time in focus?

You won't be able to RMA if there are bent pins

um why did you try to straighten them out?  You should have tried to boot as is first to confirm that is was actually a manufacturing issue.  If something doesn't work now it could very well have been a result of you bending the pins to "fix" the issue, therefore making returning the board for manufacturing defects impossible...

Welcome to the Forums!

Could you try to take a closer pic that's a bit clearer, try placing the CPU in place and locking down the holder and remove it to see if he pins align to to correct location if they don't I wouldn't try since bridging certain pins can short circuit the CPU.

I would try to RMA it personally since it's not exactly the best thing to use.

I don't have the CPU yet. Budget was a bit tight and I could only afford the motherboard for now. But yeah, is this any better? (Apologies in advance for the resolution)

Can anyone tell me if this socket looks good before I order my CPU?

From that angle everything seems to be ok, but as said once you get the CPU try placing it in and removing it to see if the pins go out of alignment, if they do you might have problems.

Check it with a magnifying glass and you'll be fine

Update 1: I installed the i5 with no problems, all pins seem fine, but when i power the system on, there seems to be no power going to the display. The CPU fan is running as well with the GPU fans and all system fans.

Someone help me troubleshoot this
