Need router and/or modem suggestions

I am sick of renting the Arris Tg862 from the cable company; the wifi is simply useless and its reliability is poor. It needs a reboot every few days and this is the third cable company provided modem.

My question is, are there any cheap routers or maybe a whole new modem that have good connection speeds for multiple all-day users?

Well a new router would suffice, the built in wifi of my modem is just horrid

But if a new modem and router can fit in my budget than that would be fantastic

I agree bridge the modem and buy a better router. For me I personally swear by Mikrotik, check them out. I have never found a more stable ethernet router for the cost. Wifi is decent although no real 5ghz or AC options yet.

For home use the RB2011 is a great start.

Thank you both for the suggestions, I will see if there is a way I can afford these routers although they are a little out of my budget. But at least you gave me a place to start.
