1440p worth it for gaming

How much better is 1440p over 1080p for gaming? Is it worth having to turn down some settings to get 60fps or 1080p @ 60fps life.

Considering the price of 1440p monitors, frankly you'd be better off saving a little bit more and going straight to 4k. In general I do feel having a higher resolution is definitely worth lowering some filters.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

no 1440p isn't worth it when 4k exists!!

the difference between 1080p and 1440p is huge, the jump to 4k is spectacular!

id rather have to lower a few settings to play at a higher resolution than play at a lower res.

I like 1440p, (own one myself)

Great for productivity

All games are able to run at 60 fps + @ 1440p with a 980 or higher. (Max settings)

Only downside is the uneqaul pixel ratio.

1080p video looks a tad worse on 1440p than 1080.

Not sure. I own a 980 G1 Gaming, and today I overclocked the snot out of it.

I don't know if a 970 will suffice for decent settings @ 1440p 60 hz

yeah it seems about right. but with no reference to the hardware used or what settings, the fps numbers posted are a bit useless.

3440x1440 is the highest 21:9 res right now... so that one > all, including 4k

Imo it's better than 4k just for the reason windows will still look good and games won't require a helping hand from God to run

windows looks perfectly fine at 4k! I have 0 scaling issues with it at 4k.

its only 3rd party apps that don't scale well. but I can live with steam having a bit blurry text when in full screen.

Ah I dno, when I had 120% scaling at 1440p, the text was a bit blurry in chrome and stuff

chrome is a 3rd party app lol so it's not windows. I have mine at 150% and windows is fine.

Chrome also looks good. the only "issues" I have are steam and msi afterburner.

Chrome is just a little fuzzy and msi just plain refuse to make a greater than 1080p skin!

still my PC is for games only lol so that's all I care about [emoji14]

Yeah okay true lol, I can't stand fuzzy blurry text so until that improves I wouldn't buy a 4k monitor
