10Gb Network Cards

Keco185

I have CAT6 cable in my home and was looking into buying a 10Gb card for my computers to utilize the bandwidth. My questions is why there are some that cost $400 and others that cost $30 when there appears to be no apparent difference between them. Here's a link to a newegg page that demonstrates this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&IsNodeId=1&N=100010064%20600013864%20600013871. Any insight would be great.

Why would you need a 10Gb NIC?

Why do we need 4k TV's? We don't, we just want them

“When life gives you lemons, don’t make lemonade. Make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don’t want your damn lemons, what the hell am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life’s manager! Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons! Do you know who I am? I’m the man who’s gonna burn your house down! With the lemons! I’m gonna get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!”

Unbranded,  seems to be that in the description they are said to run at 1Gbps  rather than 10 which sounds more resonable for the price. Its probably a tiypeo, I would only ever buy branded NIC's especialy if we are looking at 10Gbs +

But 4K you can actually see a difference a 10 gigabit connection might never even get 1 gigabit worth fo bandwidth used in a normal home environment it would be a waste.

But you don't actually need 4k to watch TV. Hell, you don't even need 1080p. My point is, we don't really need anything other than what is required to live. But we WANT things. Want is a very different thing from need

To my knowledge you can't find a 10 gigabit card for under 200$ so a 30$ card probably has some kind of catch to it.

It is probably a 1Gb card

For $30 it would be worth having a look. You could always return it if it isn't right.

If you read the reviews you can see that it's not 10Gb.

Why would you need a 10Gb NIC?

SPEED we need more SPEED

Really though, 10gbe for an internal network with file server would be nice though.
