Finally have a mechanical! Any way to swap leds?

Gdourado

Hello, how are you?

So I finally have a mechanical keyboard.

I have to say I am really impressed with the difference from my old keyboard.

The tactile feel is really something.

But I have an issue.

The keyboard I got is the stock one from the Asus GR8 computer.

It is a mechanical keyboard with cherry MX red switches.

Here is a picture:

I got this keyboard for 30 from someone who got the GR8 and didn't want the stock keyboard, so I really couldn't pass on the deal for such a good price for a new mechanical keyboard.

The issue I have is that this keyboard has Red LED lighting. And my mouse is a G502 with blue lighting.

So I was wondering if there is any easy way to change the keyboard leds to blue to match the mouse.

Cheers!

The only way to change it would take more time and money than buying a new keyboard

24 fps for that "cinematic" feel

After a couple weeks of behavioral sciences at my school I can easily conclude my parents need to grow up.

It'll take 88 backlights and a lot of soldering

Isn't your case black and red? And don't you have two GIGABYTE Blue GTX 970's? Wouldn't this match perfectly?

Yes, my case is red and black.

I don't have the 970's anymore.

Now I have a single 290X, also red and black.

The g502 really sticks out, but I love the mouse and I also got it for a steal!

Cheers!

Can it be done? Sure. Easy way? Not really. It is probably less work to change the mouse then the keyboard lol. There are led color changers but they really only work with white leds with red they would just end up purple. And to change all the leds in the keyboard you have to take it apart unsolder every led and replace them and maybe have to change resistors unless the led is a direct replacement for what is in it.

Why not buy a RGB keyboard, that way you can switch to the colors you want.

It was one of those moments when I got bored with games so I decided to get my money back on the cards and ended up selling them for almost no loss.

Then I missed games and wanted a dedicated GPU again.

The 390x and 980ti rumors were high, so I got a nice deal on a 290x and got one to play again.

Now I am waiting to see AMD and Nvidia next moves.

Cheers
