Asrock 990fx killer , Chipset running hot

I've never noticed that my chipset is running extremely hot untill i accidentaly touched the heatsink once , I couldn't lay my finger on it even for 1 second.

Then i went around and looked all over hardware-forms if someone else had been running into this overheating problem and frankly someone did, he asked if he could do something about it no-one ever answered him. So as brave as i am can i replace my asrock 990fx heatsink with a aftermarket heatsink ?

I've looked around a little bit could couldn't manage to find a decent looking / working one.

My specs :

MOBO: Asrock Fatal1ty 990fx Killer

CPU: AMD FX 8230-Black edition (overclocked to 4.2 Ghz --> I want to push this even further but i need a new cooler on my chipset then i think)

CPU Cooler: Coolermaster Hyper 212 Evo

Graphics Card: Sapphire Tri-x R9 290x

RAM: Kingston HyperX Beast (2x8GB = 16GB)

PSU: Coolermaster G750 M

Case: Aerocool Xpredator X1 (Devil Edition)

Fans: 2 front intake fans (CM jetflo 112), 1 bottom intake fan (stock) and 1 exhaust fan(CM jetflo 112)

and ofcourse all the other fans included on the components right.

I hope that someone can link me through to a decent heatsink for my 990fx chipset, If someone else ran across the same problem as i did please say so.

Thanks in advance !!

It's fine. All chipset heatsinks get hot.

How hot are we talking then ?? If you had to spit out a raw number.

And if so can i go on with overclocking, how do i know when i'm cranking my mobo to it's limits ?

I have the Fan of an old CPU-Cooler from AMD blowing onto the cooler on my Motherboard. If you want it to be cooler, you should put a Fan on it too. Grab an old Fan or something like this..

Hot enough to pull your hand away :P It's normal.

Motherboard chipset temperatures aren't affected by overclocking. If anything it'll be the VRMs.

That's what you get when you run a CPU that can pull nearly 300W from the wall once properly clocked!..everything on the board gets stressed out and piping hot.

I've made some progress on the temp that my chipset is getting : I mounted a Fan that blow some air onto it (probably going to remove it again because it wrecks my nerves for some reason) but yeah another question that hasn't been answered yet ...

So how do i know when i'm cranking my mobo to it's full extend ??
