my favorite budget psu.

the corsair cx series are still excellent. high quality refers more to ripple then anything and most name brands control it very well. +

What are we recommending nowadays? I remember when the Corsair Builder Series CX PSU's were the go-to solution, but now they are classified as low quality? If that is true, whats a better PSU to buy for the same price?

That was the one I was thinking of. Its a shame its not semi-modular but I can live without it. I had no problems with my CX750m though, its in a pentium/7750 build right now (overkill much?)

Where did you hear this? Ripple suppression is NOT the only thing that goes into determining a quality PSU. There are many other factors.

This is better then the one suggested above, and is cheaper http://pcpartpicker.com/part/evga-power-supply-100b10500kr

If you can spend an extra 4 bucks, this is a MUCH better choice then either of those EVGA's http://pcpartpicker.com/part/xfx-power-supply-p1550sxxb9

im talking about separating men from the boys. with gold ratings becoming expected on budget psu's people are valuing ripple suppression as one of its most important features. jonnyguru uses it as a grading point for power supplies and it directly affects how high and successfully you can overclock not to mention can reduce coil whine.

your right more things go into picking a psu but ripple to many many people is a determining factor.

Voltage regulation is an important part of those as well, and that's something that brand name alone can not be a determining factor of. Example, EVGA G1 vs G2
