G501 Laptop?

Hey guys, quick question. The New Asus G501 laptop have a 4k display and Linus stated that the gtx 960m can't run the games at 4K. Though, is it possible to run the display at 1920 x 1080?

It is possible, it is also very likely that it will not look good. Also you will be paying money for pixels you don't use and battery life does get a hit.

Most definitely, as far as I know you should be able to play at 1080p without it looking too bad.

What you mean it won't good? Like, the pixels wouldn't match up. Plus the price tag with the mouse and headset is a steal too so the money is made up.

Well, it's still downscaling, some stuff plain doesn't work, some stuff looks bad. If it's a good deal you can probably live with it though.

Saw that too. On both the Canadian and US Asus sites. Been looking for the 1080p model hoping that it's at least a few hundred dollars less.

Yeah supposedly, at least for Canada the 4k version isn't even out and I was only able to see it through the US site.

If you're getting a 4K screen to game on a notebook you're wasting your time.

There exist a total of three notebooks on this planet that can reliably play newer games at 4K, and they are the P37xSM-A and P570WM both from Clevo, and to a lesser extent, the GT80 Titan from MSI.

And none of them can take 4K screens. Mainly because the screens only exist for 15" laptops, currently.

I have finally moved to a desktop. Also my guides are outdated as hell.
