Macbook 12" Retina Early 2015

NCIX: N/A

Amazon: http://geni.us/3ZbY

The Macbook 12" Retina Early 2015 is a cryptically named ultraportable notebook. Does it #getrekt in this video, or do I got somewhat easy on it for fear of upsetting Tim Cook? Guess we'll find out!

I still maintain that as long as machines like the HP stream exist, the MacBook is stupid.

OMG MY SIDES

The only way that could have been any better is if after he said it, it cut to a Vlog-style shot filmed by someone else of him at his desk e-mailing Apple asking the very same question, before cutting back to the review. (In place of "Moving on.")

The new MacBook is just as I've been calling it.

A tablet with a keyboard and no touch screen :3 And yes, it's a product to force-test USB Type C.

Glad you guys enjoyed it. I worked (and so did the team) really hard on this one.

Decent review Linus. A few valid points.

Particularly the one about field testing USB Type-C. This is something Apple constantly does (Thunderbolt/Lighting). We can all agree that USB Type-C is the future but the lack of peripherals at this time isn't very helpful.

For the Macbook Air. I don't see them continuing this line much longer. Just like the non-Retina MacBook and MacBook Pro it will slowly disappear.

The experience on YouTube is still far superior than services like Vessel. All I want is a list of new videos from the people that I subscribe to, not some fancy layout with different sized videos from people that I'm not interested in. The only reason Vessel is making sense right now is the exclusives they have.

Exceptional video. Super non-biased and a pleasure to watch.

You perfectly illustrated a product whose use case is for the guy that just wants email, web browsing, and video streaming as opposed to the prosumer user.

Well I have to say, that this is one of the Apple reviews where you did your home work beforehand.

I still don't see why a "power user" necessarily needs more ports? I mean it is a tiny 12" notebook ... it is meant to work on the go. Buy any cheap USB power bank and you can work on it for hours/days.

Also pointing at the $79 "breakoutbox" - there will be and are already lots of cheaper adapters/cables available and will be even more when USB Type C is getting started to get implemented in Windows notebooks.

One of the best video reviews so far. Covered every aspect of the product without bias. Personally, I know people who own the MacBook 2015 and they are perfectly described by Linus' ending statement. Though I would have liked to see a bit more regarding the Core M processor's performance in OS X. For example, what exactly are its limits?

I would suggest that anybody who hasn't seen it in person just walk into an Apple store and hold it in their hands. I would have to say that the look and feel of the laptop is by far its best feature. The thing is a stunner. As for the lack of ports, all it needed was one regular USB port to be considered great (still not perfect). I'm the type of user who saves all his files on Dropbox/Onedrive so I rarely even use thumb drives anymore.
