how do i measure the inside of a PC case for a GPU upgrade

is there a certain way to do it?

GPU size: 10.3" x 4.4" (length by height)

case size: 16.1" x 14.5" x 7.2" (height by width by D i don't know what it means, density?)

What computer case do you have?

Can you post a picture of it?

D = Depth. Typically from side-panel to side-panel (depending on how it is measured, from motherboard tray to side panel).

Density?! That's not even a measurement of length (it's weight related to an extent  )

Height shouldn't be a problem, but to measure the case, measure from the expansion slot to the hard drive bays. The width is also important - measure from the slot to where the panel would sit.

depending on which case you have, go to the manufacturers website and find the page for that specific case and there should be a section where it says something like -

"supports gpu's up to x inches long and x inches wide"

4690K // 212 EVO // Z97-PRO // Vengeance 16GB // GTX 770 GTX 970 // MX100 128GB // Toshiba 1TB // Air 540 // HX650

Logitech G502 RGB // Corsair K65 RGB (MX Red)

you might never know what if i'm an astronaut working for nasa that wants to stream CS:GO from the ISS or what if my case is made out of a secret material acquired from the sun :^)

i doubt i'll find it on their website since the case is made by emachines and their website seems dead

That's because they don't exist anymore.

oh :/ then just measure with a little tape measure thing on the inside of your case, and see how long it can be until it cant go any further

i have a feeling it will fit but if it doesn't there's always a buzz saw and it even might increase the airflow :^)

EDIT: someone already made that joke, should of researched what a rotary tool was before posting this

Then unfortunately, you can't get the card unless you get creative.

What card is it? Maybe there's a shorter version?

Can you take out the harddrive cages? If so try that if you don't need them you can still go back to the saw and sacrifice some storage space xD

I can't tell you the measurements are EXACT. I inspect product where I have to measure things and we do have tolerances. However, we also go outside of those tolerances by a little bit.

I don't see a 280x that's short enough but this is pretty close in performance and price and it's short enough I think (8.x) inches. Otherwise, cut out part of the drive cage that's in the way

Honestly, don't put a powerful aftermarket GPU in an OEM case. Airflow will be hideous.

yah, it was a 960. Idk if you had a reason for a 280 other an price but they're shorter mostly

i chose the 280 because it had 3gb of vram and i wan't the GPU to last long also because at the moment i can buy a 280 for around the price of a 270x (which was the GPU i originally wanted to get) :]
