Is 70C-74C while gaming safe? i5 4690k, stock cooler.

I've been gaming on this machine for 6 months now. But because I'm an idiot, I just then realised how i was hitting 70C while gaming in GTA V on DSR 1800p and 77C was max I've ever gotten while playing GTA V. This bothered me. I've been playing GTA V since it was released back in April, so it's already been more than a month. Did I somehow shorten the life of my chip? Before GTA V came out I was only playing games like CS:GO, Dota, League of Legends, Minecraft and a few other games that wasn't very demanding compared to GTA V (while on high resolution) so the temps weren't very high. I'm planning to go out and buy a 240mm AIO Cooler (Not sure which, recommend please?) and I'm thinking of setting up push pull tomorrow. But by then would it be safe if I were to play GTA V and let the temps hit 70C? I have been doing that for a month and for the last two days after realizing the temps. I wasn't really playing much, I didn't even turn my pc on. Help

Side note: My GPU hits 65C-68C at 1521MHz. Lower temps than my CPU. That shouldn't be healthy. Right...?

No, 70-80 degrees C is still fine. As long as your Cpu doesnt start thermal throttling (90Deg C) it should be okay.

Would the CPU's life be shorten though? and back when I installed the 4690k I turned off turbo boost and made it all run on manual at 3.5GHz because I know turbo boost would be bad on a stock cooler. So, its 3.5GHz at 70+C. Is it good?

They are made to run at these temperatures so I don't think so.

It's safe to even have Turbo boost on.

You could just pick up a 212 evo for 20$.

SNIP

Well, even I'm using a stock cooler on my 4960K with Turbo Boost on and I had maxed out at  61^C. 70 might be a little more than what I call 'optimum' but it surely is ok. Try changing the stock thermal compound. I changed mine and use Arctic Silver 5. If you do want an AIO cooler, then I'd say get an H100i. It's a pretty good one or get an H100i GT or GTX.

As for your GPU, Those temps are perfect even with an overclock. I get the same on my GTX 970 STRIX at stock.

Happy gaming!

Higher voltage shortens CPU life not temperature.
