First picture of the R9 390X is here!

ChrisxIxCross

Probably the water cooled version.

Sure the air cooled version will be bigger...

Probably, yet (if it's not optical illusion) the PCB must be really small, you know, for a high end card.

Nah I doubt it since their current gen gpus are a rebrand

I think 390(X) are gonna be new chips and everything below will be rebranded...

Core i7 4820K  |  NH-D14 | Rampage IV Extreme | Asus R9 280X DC2T | 8GB G.Skill TridentX | 120GB Samsung 840 | NZXT H440  |  Be quiet! Dark Power Pro 10 650W

Its apparently going to be a titan-esque card with a 900$ price tag or something, matching or outperforming the titan X.

This is some serious fucking liquid bullshit.

Really. Notice how the price/performance ratio has had very insignificant improvements the last few gens... and the same again this gen.

New video cards in itself are worthless. The price/performance ratio improvement is the only thing that matters.  And we should have significant improvements here with each new gen.

i really REALLY want to see how HBM preforms

i want a change i saw coming from 7xxx to 8xxx (nvidia)

also great thing i want to see these new GPUs do is focus more on latency than bandwidth when it comes to VR gaming

and HBM has low latencies so i hope they put it to good use

cant wait for pascal with HBM2 !

Kindof hard to include HDM with a rebrand, so no at least the top end cards will be new cards. they wouldn't drone on about htis memory improvement and then NOT put it on the top of the line stuff.

Case: Meatbag, humanoid - APU: Human Brain version 1.53 (stock clock) - Storage: 100TB SND (Squishy Neuron Drive) - PSU: a combined 500W of Mitochondrial cells - Optical Drives: 2 Oculi, with corrective lenses.

Well we have been stuck on 28nm since December 2011, so costs are not really going down for AMD and Nvidia the way they normally would.

Implying that lower manufacturing costs would be transferred to the customer.

What do you think the costs of 14nm will be in comparison to 28nm?

For those of you saying this is the 390x and therefore a 290x re-brand; it's not. Notice the guy never said it was a 390x... ;)

Therefore the title of this thread is somewhat misleading.

Card looks really nice. Can't wait to see it in full. :D

What do you think the costs of 14nm will be in comparison to 28nm?

Optimally about a quarter of the cost per transistor. Realistically probably won't get quite that low, especially early on. But there will be a lot of room for AMD and Nvidia to cut prices without hurting their margins.

Look like all those "concept" designs of the 390x that were leaked out not too long ago turned out to be true. Dice developer Johan Andersoon just tweeted out the very first REAL picture of the 390X this morning! I can't wait for AMD to launch it at Computex or E3  :D

I'm looking at the shroud design, and I have to ask:

Are we back to the early 1990's here?

He probably received more than one card and I've never heard anyone refer to a dual-GPU card as "them" before.
