Nvidia Gtx 980ti launch closer than expected?

skater7429

Last night on techtalk a weekly live stream by jayztwocents he teased a card briefly showing it on screen I say it's the 980ti but it's just under nda so he can't actually release a video on the said card. Many sources claim an early June - Computex launch for the product with it being a full launch and not just a paper launch so all cards will already be at distributors at this time. However one big question left is the price and if this chart has any truth to it then it actually wouldn't be much cheaper than a Titan . Ofcourse this is still all speculation as nothing has been officially confirmed by Nvidia.

They just copied what they posted last time but put it in a new post lol WCCF likes to get them clicks.

I don't care if you are right or wrong... someone will come around and correct you if you are wrong. What people need to realize is that we need to step up as a community and get above the pathetic fights and bickering. Share knowledge, be friendly, enjoy your stay.

He also forgot to mention if you dont know about the topic then dont make stuff up. Dont claim fake or assume things just by reading the title, Read the post. It doesnt matter if you made 3,000 as it could be mostly crap...

How Nvidia makes the new card (NOT CALLING IT A 980TI)

1. Take a Titan X

2. Disable Half the VRAM and remove a few hundred CUDA Cores.

3. Sell at 750$

4. Profit.

Nvidia is to Dr Dre Beets as AMD is to KFC.

One makes you broke, the other you can get more of and have a midnight snack from the fridge when hungry again. Once you go Nvidia, you go broked, turn into an Elitist, or get the incorrect amount of VRAM.

I was only 9 years old. I loved Fifflaren so much, I had all the NiP merchandise and matches pirated. I prayed to Fifflaren every night before bed. Thanking him for the life I have been given. Fifflaren is love I say. Fifflaren is life. My dad hears and calls me a fuckhead. I knew he was just jelly of my passion for Fifflaren. I called him a Sw@yer. He hits me and sends me to go to sleep. I'm crying now, and my face hurts. I lay in bed and it's really cold. A warmth is moving towards me. I feel someone touching me. I feel someone touching me. It's Fifflaren. I am so happy. He whispers in my ear; "this is my pyjama". He grabs me with his powerful Swedish hands and puts me on my hands and knees. I'm ready. I spread my ass cheeks for Fifflaren. He penetrates my butt-hole. It hurts so much but I do it for Fifflaren. I can feel my butt tearing as my eyes start to water. I push against his force. I want to please Fifflaren. He roars a viking roar as he fills my butt with his love. My dad walks in. Fifflaren looks straight into his eyes and says; "He is a ninja now". Fifflaren is love, Fifflaren is life

how i look at is if Nvidia hasn't made an announcement about it then there's no need talking about it,, when it come then talk but as nothing has been set in stone yet, just wait

In a marketing perspective the release is ought to be close with the competitor. It just makes sense to trade blows.

Still a lot more interested in AMD's HBM card. We know a 980ti is a GM200 chip, fully fledged. A Titan X with less ram, just like 780 and 780ti. Maybe pre oc'ed a bit. Should be nice, but nothing revolutionary.

I just don't see where this fits in the market performance wise.

An overclocked 980 will match a stock 980Ti (Overclocked a 980 is about ~10-15 FPS behind the TitanX... doesn't leave much room for the 980Ti).  So depending on what sort of overclocking headroom the 980Ti has, it may not even outperform the 980 by a significant amount.  I don't think the extra VRAM is necessary either, in my experience I've very rarely had issues at 4K with 4 GB. (And when I do, it's because a game is using slightly more VRAM than I have.  Like 4.1 GB instead of 4GB. )

It will cannibalize TitanX sales completely, and there will be a ton of people who will buy it because they think they need 6 GB of VRAM.  Instead of selling two SKUs to separate market segments, they'll sell one.

GOD DAM IT. I just got my 980. I sort of hope its super expensive when it comes out so I can feel better about not being able to afford it on the budget I just spent.

If that is really a 16nm ff HBM card, then yeah, probably I good idea. I hope for a big jump in performance next year.

I expect performance increase for sure, however, I also expect issues on launch, since it's new tech... secretly hope there won't be any though.

But wasn't it supposed to launch this month? Now it's launching in June again? The narrative sure loves changing on a whim.

How interesting would it be if the 980ti pulls a $750 - $800 price point, but does to the Titan X, and 980 what the 780ti did to the Titan(OG) and 780, but all while being a different GM core, given the 980 was fully unlocked as is the Titan X.  That'd be quite the thing.

If the 980 Ti has cores disabled, it's likely it will have the same kind of unbalanced memory configuration as the GTX 970. Realistically it probably won't matter, but just saying :P

As long as it's just CUDA cores, it should not be a problem. I doubt NVidia dares to release chips with cut ROPS again. Or we will see a 980ti with 5,5+0,5GB :D
