Monitor video idea

Genesis1800

So this is officially my first post here, I just usually lurk. Recently I was thinking about getting a new monitor to replace my main monitor because my side monitors look much better as they are newer but smaller which is why I don't want them to be the main monitor. When I mentioned this to several people they said they couldn't see what I was seeing with the monitor. So I had an idea that maybe some one at LMG could grab a couple monitors, some with 100% sRGB, some with not so great sRGB, some with a little back light bleed etc. etc. and take them and show them to random people and have them pick what monitors they think looks the best or share there thoughts on what they think they see, to see how many people really can see the difference. How low does the color representation have to be before the masses notice the difference. TN vs IPS. Maybe test some LMG employees. Just thought it would be a cool experiment that you could do, could possible do it at an NCIX store or something that way you get a lot of different customers coming in to help and could possibly sell some of them for NCIX. Would be a great partner video that would benefit both.

I'm pretty sure I would do ok in this test as would most of the people that are probably here, but what if we just think we can tell?

Also I do not have a store around me other than Best Buy that I can go look at monitors to test drive for myself. The Best Buy here has a pretty crappy monitor section. So maybe some people can recommend a couple of good monitors for me. Specs I would like around 27" (doesnt have to be exact) I would like to step up to 1440P at 27" as Linus has said many times its his personal sweet spot and I would have to agree with him. Latency isnt a major issue as I dont play shooters anymore because I have slight tremors in my hands (Dyskinesia if you would like to look it up) which make it hard to be precise. I have the system to push 4K with no issues but I like playing at Ultra and if games keep getting better and better there is no chance of pushing 4K for long. I don't necessarily need a BenQ or ROG Swift but its not out of the question. Please and Thank you!

Welcome to the Forum

Those tests would be interesting to see actually, maybe @LinusTech can do some blind tests with people like the old 60 vs 120hz video but with more people

As for a monitor recommendation I absolutely love my AOC Q2770PQU - its a very nice 1440p display and is PLS so has great colours and smooth motion
