Laptop vs Desktop Hard Drives

My new desktop can have either:

1) one 2.5 in drive and one 3.5 in drive

2) one 2.5 in drive and four other 2.5 in drives

I currently have a 256 GB ssd in the first 2.5 in drive bay and the hard drive in my laptop in one of the other bays (2.5 in hdd). I was wondering if i should buy a 1 TB 3.5 in hdd or a 1 TB 2.5 in hdd.

Pros of 3.5:

1) cheaper

2) easier to find

3) faster (I think)

4) quieter (I think)

Pros of 2.5:

1) add more drives later (up to 5 total)

2) cleaner look

3) possible raid?

4) could add more ssds

Any ideas or comments on the matter?

ASRock M8 Case, Intel Core i5 4690k Devils Canyon, MSI GTX 970 Golden Edition GPU, 16 GB HyperX Fury SO-DIMM, Crucial 250 GB SSD, Toshibe (woofe) 2 TB HDD, LG 29in Ultrawide Monitor

3,5 inch drives are generally a bit faster and more reliable I say generally because this is not always the case.

I would still go for the 3,5'' but that's my opinion.

Same here, more reliable, quite a bit faster than laptop HDD's (7200RPM 2.5" cost quite a bit more).

So for the same price tag, you get more space, more speed and overall a more reliable HDD if you go with 3.5". :)

A 2.5 does make less noise, you may want to take that into consideration.

I cannot be held responsible for any bad advice given.

I've no idea why the world is afraid of 3D-printed guns when clearly 3D-printed crossbows would be more practical for now.

My rig: The StealthRay. Plans for a newer, better version of its mufflers are already being made.
