H440 White

Fibeus

So, I am about to start building my system and I don't know if I should get the h440 or the enthoo pro. I'm kinda giving the edge to the h440 for being a bit nicer on the looks.

But in any case, (cause it's a case, get it? ~linus) I'm wondering if a single bitfenix alchemy 30cm lit strip will be enough. For the same money I can get 2 12cm strips for both the top and bottom of the case, cause i've been told that only one casts a shadow. Does anyone own the h440 and can give me some advice? thanks :)

If you plan on Water cooling i wouldn't get the H440. It will choke the hell out of your rads. Especially up top.

You can't be serious.  Hyperthreading is a market joke?

The two shorter ones? Will it produce enough illumination to look nice? :)

I'm planning on using the h100i gtx. will it not fit? I've seen people fit it.

It will fit. The rad will not get adequate airflow. If you dont plan on over clocking it is probably fine. With my H440 i noticed a 10c drop in temps when i removed the front and top covers. Very restrictive.

So this is the final build with the nzxt h440 on the list. I am buying from mindfactory. I've been told it's good. It has good prices. Any changes to be made?

You could get a smaller PSU (500w) and an EVGA GTX 980 ACX 2.0 for better looks (those have white LED lighting).

It is a GTX 970 (sadly :P ) but I thought g1 was the best performer out of all the gtx 970's

Yes, but if you want aesthetics this will not match your build at all. An Asus Strix will, though (white LED).

Would go for enthoo pro, better for water cooling, if you get lux edition you get cool mulitcolour changing strip built in.

@Fibeus - good pick on components, your PC will look similar to mine :P check my build log if you want

Here is the current state my PC is in :Dhttp://linustechtips.com/main/topic/257759-first-build-project-yin-yang/?p=4813999

Man my build will look like nothing compared to yours. This is truly amazing. I loved your system to the very end. Sadly I don't have enough money to get all this stuff or the time to make it so beautiful. But I would like to know If you can point me at some good white or black cable extensions, as I have heard they are cheaper than actually sleeved cables themselves. I also quite liked the black and white ram combination, so simple yet so ellegant :) .

I just might be able to paint the gtx 970 White too. Just a quick question on that too though, will I need to get thermal paste ill i remove the frontplate to paint it white? And If you have found any tutorials on how to do that paintjob properly could you point me at them as well?

Thank you, and thanks for showing me your awesome build :)

It depends on what extensions you want. But custom made ones are not cheap either. But try Bitfenix, they are decent and cheap :)

Regarding the GPU painting - you have to take apart the entire cooler to get to the screws holding the plastic cover, so yeah, have some thermal compound handy :)

As for tutorials on painting, I never really used one :D I just took apart the cooler, removed all stickers on the plastic shroud and went outside to paint. I used regular spray paint, used short and steady bursts, helps to prevent leaking paint. I applied one coat, left it to dry for 30 minutes, applied a second coating, again waited and a third coating, left it to dry over night, and on the next day I applied a last coating just for details :)

If you need any help, just ask ;) and thanks for complimenting on my build

Last question. I found some white cable extensions, what cable does the gtx 970 need? So that I can buy the right one!

My EVGA uses the same layout - 8+6pin :)

The G1 Gaming you have picked uses it also :)

I will opt for the EVGA, just becaue It has no led, and the blue on the g1 might not fit that well :) I will though paint the evga that I will get white to match up with the other components! :)

Here is an updated list of the parts. (I didn't want to add any cost so instead of going for 32gb of ram, I just used up all 4 dim slots for 16gb and mixed the black and white as you did. Looks sweet!!)

I dont have the nzxt440 on the list becasue I have already ordered it :D

@1Scotty1 do you know where I can find your white backplate for the GPU? Since I will be doing the modding anyway, I might just have that too. :)

+ Where did you buy the white spray paint from? +Lastly: Is it easy to paint the vents white? (as you have done in your build. Makes a nice black/white contrast)

The backplates I have are custom made by one dude in UK, I can send you a contact and you can e-mail him :)

The white spray paint is from a regular paint shop, it is nothing special, just white spray paint. And it is fairly easy to paint the plastic cover on the GPU, you "just" have to disassemble the entire cooler -> four screws to remove the cooler from the PCB and then 4-6 screws to remove the plastic shroud from the cooler. Now just cover the labels or just remove them, clean the shroud and paint :) I applied 3 coatings total, and let each coating dry for a sufficient time (1-2 hours) and last coating dried overnight. Then just re-assemble the cooler, apply new thermal compound and put it all together :)
