So many laptops! To Many Choices?

Hey guys,

I'm looking to buy a laptop for some hard-core gaming. I have budget for pretty much anything so that won't be a problem. Also i have to go laptop over desktop because i travel a lot and do not have the space for it in my tiny appartment.

I've looked at Asus ROG and at alien as well as the msi 980msli monster but is just don't know what to get.
I don't wanna be putting my games on lower settings any time soon so what should i do.
Should i go for just the ROG with just one 980m or for the 980msli monster or should i go for the alienware 17 r2 with the grafics amplifier and just pop in a 980 (or better) later?

Maybe you guys have great other options and some advice on the technical side of things?

I'm going power over looks and even though i wanna be able to travel with it i dont mind it being heavy as long as it's powerfull aswell.

Just one more thing. Next year we will be able to play with VR headsets from the oculus to the steamVR. I kind of would love to play with that but i read that most laptops right now do not support it. From that point of view should i wait for later?

I hope some of you can answer my questions.

Cheers

Why not a Mini-ITX computer? Ones you can carry around with a single powerful GPU?

But if you want Laptop, Alienware is overrated and overpriced, Asus ROG is good imo.

GT80? I cant even classify that as a "Laptop"

Go for the best asus rog gaming laptop you can find if money isn't a problem more is better. Try to go with one with both and ssd and a hard drive. You also get companies that configure gaming laptops (including asus) to any spec you want.

Hope this helps!

Well you didnt quiet specify what ASUS ROG. But im assuming the G751JY is the one you mention

The GT80 is just.. Big for a laptop, bulky, not that pretty imo. And its SLI, imagine laptop cooler with SLI = Frying Pan + Power Hungry af

I wouldn't recommend you to buy laptop for Hardcore Gaming; If I were you Laptop will be just for working or play low powered games while I use my PC as hardcore Gaming since $1500 Gaming Laptop is way weaker compare to $1500 PC Gaming

It is compatible with Oculus Rift, Optimus conflicts with Oculus Rift but thankfully the ROG series doesnt have Optimus.

Laptops are not THAT good, in fact they're power hungry and weak, therye not meant to be for gaming if anything you can try to build a Mini-ITX build. But if you force you "need" laptop for gaming, the ROG is a moderate choice

W-What do you mean 8G 980M? 8GB memory? Honey, If you're planning to play on 4K, the 8GB will come in handy, if its other than 4k, 4gb should be enough.

And please start specifying laptops, which CLEVO?!

If its about specifications the G750JY wins, but 8GB is a waste of money unless you're playing on 4K, G751JY is more optimized and a money saver.

Asus ROG g751JY  would be best and I would by that one because it has a very good cooling solution - not only keeps temps low but also makes it the quietest of gaming laptops and numerous reviews prove that. Shame its tricky to clean the fans and repaste. Hope the go for easy to maintain solution like clevo or sager do.

I would recommend a Clevo P650SG. Has a 4GB 980M, 2 dedicated cooling fans for the 980M itself, 2.5kg, slightly over an inch, 15.6" screen. And it is quiet and cool, also with tons of storage options.
