How many fps?

richyman
Go to solution Solved by c0d0ps,

I would like to know how many fps would I have playing battlefield (another demanding games). Ive checked the gtx970 and its benchmarks, but I want want to know how will the general build affect its fps. I wanna play at 1920x1080, I usually play BF(4 and hardline).

Note: I believe the builds wont need anything else (maybe an ssd or hssd), but to be sure, would I have to buy extra fans or something?

Thx :D

Also, would spending some more money in this build would be worth it? Is the difference too noticable?

  • $886.93
  • $816.99

General rule of thumb:

If you are gaming and doing light to no editing then the I5 4690k is perfect.

If you are doing heavy editing and gaming then get the i74790k.

I am guessing at 60+ fps on max settings since 1080p shouldn't be that demanding for this system.

they will both max out any game at 1080p 60fps

Maybe not "max" and maybe not "every game" but it'll run high settings for the most part. Don't forget some games need that bit more (Witcher 3 with hair works/Shadow of Mordor etc)

How about this one;                                vs  the $817 one                  The main differences are the motherboard, gpu, case(doesnt matter), and the processor isnt overclocked.

Not every single game since there are some exceptions *cough cough Ubisoft, and yes Shadow of Mordor on ultra might be a problem with the v-ram.

But most of the time it will max out games at 60+ fps, so for the most part it is max settings and not high settings.

Since most games don't have a whole lot of v-ram requirement on 1080p or bad optimizations.

By "high settings" I didn't literally mean "high" as an option in game it'll run up to ultra/max on most occasions, I just felt that it needed to be put out there that there that there will be some limitations, I wouldn't want the TC to think that he can just go to every game turn everything on full and hit 60fps all the time, that's just not possible, I hit some snags with my 980 @1920x1080 so it's fair to say a 970 will do the same.

I suppose that is an important point to make too.

But that your 980 can't max out every game (I am guessing that you have at least an i5) is really concerning.

I am not sure what certain game developers is doing or better yet not doing to make this happen ..

Yeah, 4690k @4.5ghz, when I say max I really do mean "max" including maximum AA and things that aren't really needed. You can look at benchmarks for a lot of recent games and see that it's the case.

i5 over i7 for purely gaming amd some multitasking purposes.

I recommend an SSD for BF4 to help load them textures. Even on ssd i sometimes wait 5 seconds after spawning...

Either buy 850evo or MX100 at least 250gb, waot for a deal if u can.

Although I agree, when discussing "max settings" it does form a part of it, when we're discussing max settings we really should be turning every option available (including FOV to render more detail) to the maximum the game/engine allows, picking and choosing which bits to enable ie. ultra textures 2xAA (when 16x is an option) isn't max settings imo.

Wherever you go you'll find a different definition of max settings, I personally choose to be as literal as I can with it.

I like the precise/definite mindset but since most people just mean ultra I just ignore that stuff xD

I count in FOV render distance as max/ultra settings though.

Im still not 100% clear. I dont know where did you all guys got lost for 1080, I want to know if it will handle 1920 (1920x1080, of course). xD. Sorry for being repetitive, and thx for your patience. To all of you.

I mentioned two lol.

850 evo is from Samsung

MX 100 is from Crucial.

Sshd wouldnt help since its purpose is purely for fast booting and OS. The rest of the SSHD is mechanical just like any other HDD i.e. slooooooow.

256gb ssd can cost u anywhere from $70-120 depending on the brand and deal u get.

Games will load faster and installing will be faster. (For comparison, GTA V unpacking takes 25 minutes on an HDD, 10 on SSD).

1920x1080 = 1080p

Somethingx1440p = 1440P

somethingx2160 (or something near it) = 2-4k

This is how it works, I am not sure why though.

Check my signature, I have similar CPU and GPU. BF4 maxed at 1080p with vSync on (it locks FPS to monitor's refresh rate - 60 in my case) does not drop below 60. Without vSync it could be 100+ fps max I believe (I could check it at home if you want but if you have 60hz monitor it doesn't matter that you have 10000fps in game).
