Do you/would you make a "moral stance" when you buy your GPU?

All this shit about witcher 3 and project cars got me thinkin-
This isnt the first time that NVIDIA has been accused of this, in fact I frmly believe a few games in the past have done this,
but, I bought a reference 970 some months ago, and my next gpu will likely be nvidia
 
regardless of what you believe happened-
 
Here's a huge hypothetical
 
Imagine there was definite, and I mean 100% certain proof of NVIDIA paying off A LOT game devs to make the name not work well on AMD cards, or they were doing other things to hinder AMD's performance...(Like idk firebombing AMD facilities...throw one 480 on a pile of reference 290s and you have a fire that does melt steal beams.)
In this made up case it's hard to run a lot of games on AMD hardware, even if top of the line hardware fails to compete with mid range NVIDIA products on these games
Do you-
A.) Buy NVIDIA becuase your games run better- The trick may be dirty, but in the end you need the best hardware to run the games you want to play
 
B.) Buy AMD despite the cards not working as they should on many AAA titles, as in this case you don't want to support NVIDIA's practices
 
Vice versa applies here too. 

 
 
I would definitely do option A.

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it. 

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff. 

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch

I am planning to upgrade when pascal comes out but if amd has something better on paper but dosent perform well not that well but still good and if its proved Nvidia is not following industry practices i wouldn't hesitate shifting to amd.Its not about loyalty for me as much as it is about moral standards with which a company operates.Its like how people wont support an business for being homophobic or supporting jihad or even supporting child labour *Cough APPLE Cough*.

i don't really play a whole lot of AAA games

i haven't had a problem with running any games with my r9 290

and if you must know overclocking is more my forte , gaming is just to pass time between my study's and other hobbies

As always, I'll buy the brand that offers me the best performance for my dollar at the time of purchase. All this speculation about which company is more evil is just BS as they are all the same and had the roles been reversed we would still be having this debate except with the names changed.

Grammar and spelling is not indicative of intelligence/knowledge.  Not having the same opinion does not always mean lack of understanding.

I wouldn't say idiotic, I didn't buy any GPUs from the 6870 till the 970 for my personal rig. Have a 580 I used some times, but I never gamed for a good few years. Be nice lol

No. I would never base my purchasing decisions on a company's moral stance, because business and personal morals are not the same.

 

The company's moral obligation is to keep expanding, and keep it's staff employed - in short to make money. If Nvidia was allowing AMD to gain marketshare by not locking down features, and then costing it marketshare, which costs it money, which might put jobs at risk, or delay a future project, that would be immoral of them.

 

So I purchase what performs best for my use case.
