I reused the RAM and HDD from an older computer, so I was able to stay roughly within my budget of $500

Here are some pictures while I was building it (sorry for the poor quality, all I had was my phone):

Down the line, I could see myself wanting to add in an LED light strip on the inside of the see-through glass side-panel; upgrade to a beefier GPU when the 750Ti doesn't cut it for me, and perhaps pick up an SSD. Otherwise, I'm very satisfied with how it looks and performs.

Let me know what you think.

Nice build! Personally though I would have gotten a 4400+H81 instead and put the money saved towards a better GPU. However that's an easy upgrade for down the line :)

I had reused the WD Black, so I had already owned it for a solid 4 years now.

I actually had purchased the CPU+motherboard back when the 4460 was cheaper than the 4440, and I felt rather uncomfortable about the possibility of an outdated BIOS not supporting Haswell-Refresh, that I went with the H97M Anniversary instead. I put a bit more money towards CPU and motherboard, and while I do understand that the money spent on that doesn't manifest itself as much as a graphics card would in terms of gaming performance, I would find that replacing a graphics card is much easier, given that my power supply should be able to feed enough power to most mid-range cards.

Yes, I know of my toe's misalignment D:

I actually did move the computer back onto my desk, where it rightfully belongs away from the dust on the floor. Now I have a nice view inside the case at all times!
