Can a TV tuner card replace the need of DTH operator provided set-top box

Hi there,

I was wondering, whether a TV tuner card can replace the DVR (set-top box) provided by the DTH provider and be able to decode the input signal that it receives from the DTH providers's antenna on the roof via a coax cable...  Is it possible ?? Does anyone use such a setup ??

There's always a way...

Yes, I know what it looks like... I'm asking whether it can decode the input signal from DTH provider or not... I mean that the DVR they provide us with must have some sort of algo to decode the broadcast signal they are providing...

  • ATSC, DVB-T,Clear-QAM Digital TV Support (unencrypted digital TV) that is what they say it can do so i say it is a no go.
