Slow internal network transfer speeds

Hi guys.

Today I am trying to diagnose and resolve my slow internal network transfer speeds. When copying a movie from computer A to B, it runs at about 3MB/s. Whilst transferring from B to A it runs at about 2.5MB/s. (LAN Speed Test program produces the same speed)

The route from A to B is: PC A 5ghz wireless > router > powerline input > powerline output > PC B
The hard drive in operation on PC A is a 7200rpm sata. In PC B it is a 5400rpm external usb 2.0 hard drive.

When I attempt the file transfer from A to B but NOT to the external hdd, rather the internal ssd.. the speeds are the same. This leads me to believe it is not a hard drive bottleneck but specifically the network.

Can anyone offer some tips on what I can do help resolve this?

If you need any more info or clarification, just ask please.

Thanks.

The route from A to B is: PC A 5ghz wireless > router > powerline input > powerline output > PC B  <--heres your problem

way to many adapters and shit

and more then likely you have some old electrical lines in your house to

should do a direct connection test

If you need remote help fixing something on your computer

The house is practically brand new so the electrical is all good.

How direct are you talking? crossover cable direct? The computers are both a fair distance from the modem so hardlining them both is difficult..
