I run shaders at 50-60FPS on my G3258 and 750Ti. I doubt a laptop will be able to run with shaders unless it's like $1000+.
I have 8GB RAM but don't ever use more than 4 even while gaming.

G3258 @ 4.5 | 8GB Team Vulcan RAM | 128GB Kingston V300 SSD (I didn't know what I was doing when I bought it) | MSI H81I Motherboard | Corsair H55 with Noctua NF-P12 | EVGA SSC GTX 960 4GB | OCZ 550W Fully Modular PSU with Noctua NF-A14 | Cooler Master Elite 130 (Soon to be something cool)

Cheaper and all that's needed for minecraft. I use a G3258 and run minecraft maxed with shaders with chrome in the background and that works fine for me. It's overclocked which helps a TON but overclocking is not for everyone and you have to pay for a cooler to do so. The i3 performs about the same as an overclocked G3258 I think and you can use the stock cooler.

@stconquest has a great build, but beware of those people saying "save a bit more". My first PC build was at $700 and ended up being $1200.

i3 isn't bad for a Desktop CPU. Way more powerful than laptop CPUs.

I have learned that as well.  A few fans, maybe a fan controller... a CPU cooler...SSD...blah blah blah...$400 gone.

The build works except for one thing, kind of...  That Gigabyte board should be purchased at Newegg.  Newegg specifies the Rev3.0 for that board allowing it compatibility with the 4590.  The other shops do not, meaning it might not work with the Haswell Refresh CPU.

Good build BTW.
