Well then barely. My Xeon X5450 at 3.6GHz is running the FSB at 1600MHz (400MHz x 4).

In 610i yes it would, it's 65nm (as 6xx series chipsets were designed on the 65nm conroe/kentsfield platform).... but it won't overclock much 610i is more or less equivalent to the G31 chipset.

What are you using it for out of interest?

Basically. Would you recommend something in the same price range?

Well if you just want to put something together that isn't slow on the cheap it is fine for $10. but it depends what you intend to use the computer/board for.

For my 775 rig I use a P5Q green and the primary cpu is the X5450.

I also have an nForce 780i SLI board though, and a whack tonne of dual core CPUs.

I couldn't find an E0 stepping one when I was shopping and they were all £10-15 more on average. I picked up my X5450 for £18.

Would you be interested in helping me with an LGA775 club? I'm not the only one who thinks that CPU's on it are underestimated and it will be good to help those who still have their 775 rig going after all of these years (or overclocking after all these years :P ).

Well there is that, but I was planning on linking both guides in the first post, and putting them in spoilers.

Its certainly not dead when my Xeon X5450 can be easily overclocked so that it only bottlenecks my GTX 970 by 15% (it would be a 0% bottleneck with more effort, a 240mm rad, and the Xeon at 4.4GHz).

I have an i5 4440, but since my LGA775 motherboards are ATX and have more features/slots, and the fact that I'm going to save the i5 for when the Xeon is no longer doing the job (I've got a H87M-Pro motherboard that hasn't been neutered by Intel-overclocking is possible), and which is capable of pushing the i7 4770k/4790K (either of which I will buy in the future) past 4.5GHz-which will squeeze even more life out of the rig and mean that I won't need to actually do a full system upgrade for over 10 years (just like my Pentium III EB 667 rig from around 2000).

So It's only because It's ATX? You could probably sell your 4460+ Mobo and get a ATX mobo and 2600K

It's the i5 4440, and I'm sticking with what I have because I've already got 3 unlocked LGA775 CPU's (2x E6500K, QX6850), and a Xeon that overclocks really well. That and the i5 is a stand in until I can afford an i7 4770K/4790K which will give me over 10 years of not needing to upgrade my computer at all.

Why did you buy a QX6850? They are really expensive...
