couple of things I noticed:

-linus bought the new office instead of leasing it. (dat youtube $$)

-it looks like he bought multiple units and join them together.

 

I think it would have been better to move all the workstations upstairs and use the space downstairs as a lunchroom/lounge, server room, render farm, and storage area.

I do wonder how the acoustics will when it's done. Would be a  shame if audio would forever sound like you are standing in a massive hall.

Also, you guys depend on the server room, it's probably one of the most important places of your company.

So in the first LMG place you put it in the bathroom, because, y'know, reasons. And now that you have a better place you are thinking: well, let's just put it under the stairs. 

I think you should consider putting that in a seperate place. 

 

And uh, isn't that place going to be freezing in the winter o.0

And melting in the summer? o.0

if Linus or anyone else think it would be cool of a 3D model of the place, i would be happy to make it in Revit Architecture.

This way you can always make changes to the place, like you want to know how much space it would actually take up if you needed more tables both in 2D plans and make renders of the place to get a better visualizing. all i would need it simply some Floor plans and Elevation drawings. then i could do it. 

 

i would find it as a funny little hobby project to mess around with in my off time. can also make construction drawings if needed.

 

so Constructing architect reporting in for duty.

Wanted to also add, since it is a warehouse type structure, if you get a chance to experience a heavy rain store. see if you can borrow a thermal imaging camera, as well as a good zoom lens so you can more easily inspect the ceiling for leaks or slight amounts of moisture coming in. If the place is well maintained then it will likely not be a problem, but it is always something that is good to check for in order to ensure that no little problems become big ones while the facility is being used in a production environment.

 

A thermal camera makes it easy to spot areas what can encounter potential leaks (many thermal imaging companies are pretty willing to lone them for product reviews).

 

PS it is also good to have when shopping for homes, any issue you find, even it it may never be a major issue, is a bargaining chip to negotiate a lower price. For example, cold spots or anything point to bad insulation or an unwanted air leak can be grounds for arguing about potential mold issues as large temperature differentials can lead to condensing water.

Great video, cant wait to see it finished.

 

One thing though, those bay doors, be careful with them

I work in a building with them (6 of them to be exact) and they can be easy to break and the repair time and cost is quite annoying

 

 

watched the video earlier today, it was nice too see how much space they are going to get.

 

But those bay doors keep bothering me, I worked in a warehouse a few times and i must say, at summer these things are a real blessing, but in the winters they ar pure hell, having those things open is nearly as cold as those doors closed in the winter, they isolate pretty badly if you ask me, they should a (warning pun incoming !) prepare back-up systems(pc's and servers) with AMD chips/GPUs because of the temperature.

seriously though, those bay doors are a hell in winters here already and since canada get's "a bit" colder then the Netherlands, yeah figure it will be pretty cold.

 

 

and I can COMPLETELY AGREE with this quote about it being insanely cold open or shut, iz terrible.
