Christmas came early when Intel sent me TWO Xeon E5 2699 v3 Processors for our new rendering server. Once they arrived I giddily got to put one through its paces...

This was filmed before the dual-socket MB arrived. Do you honestly think we're only going to make one video with these bad boys!? ;)

It almost looked like he was going to drop it.

Well, this is Linus Tech Tips...

Put it in the phase chamber case :D

Nvidia is to Dr Dre Beets as AMD is to KFC.

One makes you broke, the other you can get more of and have a midnight snack from the fridge when hungry again. Once you go Nvidia, you go broked, turn into an Elitist, or get the incorrect amount of VRAM.

- WCCFTECH

I was only 9 years old. I loved Fifflaren so much, I had all the NiP merchandise and matches pirated. I prayed to Fifflaren every night before bed. Thanking him for the life I have been given. Fifflaren is love I say. Fifflaren is life. My dad hears and calls me a fuckhead. I knew he was just jelly of my passion for Fifflaren. I called him a Sw@yer. He hits me and sends me to go to sleep. I'm crying now, and my face hurts. I lay in bed and it's really cold. A warmth is moving towards me. I feel someone touching me. I feel someone touching me. It's Fifflaren. I am so happy. He whispers in my ear; "this is my pyjama". He grabs me with his powerful Swedish hands and puts me on my hands and knees. I'm ready. I spread my ass cheeks for Fifflaren. He penetrates my butt-hole. It hurts so much but I do it for Fifflaren. I can feel my butt tearing as my eyes start to water. I push against his force. I want to please Fifflaren. He roars a viking roar as he fills my butt with his love. My dad walks in. Fifflaren looks straight into his eyes and says; "He is a ninja now". Fifflaren is love, Fifflaren is life

My instant reaction: HOLY JEEZUS YES I NEED IT.

My sensible conclusion: It costs two times as much as my whole PC setup... Maybe in another 20 years.

Will the dual socket board be a server grade board like a supermicro x10drc-t4+ or something like a z10pe-d8 ws?

I am pumped to see what a dual core version of this is like!

I would love to see a video, or even forums post that is a "software tools we use at Linustechtips." For example, heres what we love for testing RAM, heres how we stress test our processors, here's what I use to clock the speed of my shiny new dual 10 gigabit network connection.

I am sure this could be diligently  pieced together by watching every video and writing it down but still!

why would a xeon in a X99 motherboard, not work with gaming memory Linus?.

The only thing that wont work is xmp indeed.

Funny to see that you exaly tried it.

Overclocking the base clock of that xeon failed on 105, thats also not a surprise.

Normaly the base clock of xeon´s like this dont go any higher then 102 / 103 if you are lucky.

Also the Core i7 cpu´s dont support ECC ram, thats why Asus X99 boards, basicly dont support ECC.

It surprised me a bit, that it booted up with that ECC ram installed, but still it will be totaly useless, cause the ECC feutures wont work.

Only Asrock X99 boards support ECC ram, if you trow a Xeon on there.

Still if you wanne take the full advantage of the Xeon chip you need a C series chipsetboard.

Very cool video, to see those 36 threads in the task manager :)

i would suggest to trow a Titan X on the test bench, and fire up some 1080p / 1440p gaming.

i wanne see "if" "and how badly", that cpu bottlenecks it.

just for the lolz.

Linus looked like Cooper from Interstellar in the thumbnail  :D

And that Cinebench speed though ....

... Life is a game and the checkpoints are your birthday , you will face challenges where you may not get rewarded afterwords but those are the challenges that help you improve yourself . Always live for tomorrow because you may never know when your game will be over ... I'm totally not going insane in anyway , shape or form ... I just have broken English and an open mind ...

they actually did it in the crazy mITX build they did.

As the CPU is able to Turbo to 3.6Ghz you won't really see much of a bottleneck ;)
