If it's possible on stock Android it's possible on the SHIELD Portable.

L2TP will work on Android out of the box. Not sure about OpenVPN. You should be able to set it up tho.

The thing is I have to use openvpn. I dont want a buy the shield if I cant use it

its on the google play store.. so I dont see why not, the shield runs all android apps
