I have an MX299Q and I love it. It's the best looking monitor i've ever purchased.

I would recommend it to anyone who wants a 2560x1080 experience.

why would you take the more expensive asus over the LG (which is 75hz and has freesync)?

Hence why I asked, I'm a total noob when it comes to monitors.

So you suggest the cheaper LG one?

yes, because the LG is 75hz, not 60 like the asus

and most importantly the LG has freesync which is a big deal; for which you need to put up a global FPS cap of 74 and you wont run into any problems with its max cap issues

and ye, you need an amd card (260/x, 285, 290/x only right now) for it to work, but its def worth it.

Yea I have an Nvidia gpu lol.. Guess I'll chose the looks over the Hz then. If I really need all the Hz I can get I can just switch to my 144Hz BenQ monitor if it's important :)

I personally think the 75hz IPS screen you get even without freesync is worth it.

And i also think variable refresh rates are worth it to change the video card.

But the best thing i think you can do is save up and get the upcoming acer z35 - 144hz 21:9 VA, gsync

I had AMD before and every single one broke so I'm done with AMD. I also love EVGA and they only manufacture aftermarket coolers for Nvidia so..

Cant blame you.

But i do suggest you wait a bit and save up a bit more for a 21:9 gsync. They are coming.

I appreciate the tips but I'm not the kind of person to do that, heck I even got a 780ti 2 weeks before the 980 released. When I decide I'm getting something, I wish I bought it 2 days before I decided it :P

Ye, i get it.

Was gona comment on how the LG is still a 75hz screen, but then i remembered freesync scaler had some ghosting issues. I think asus is better in this.

Ghosting issue only pops up when you have a FreeSync capable card.
