Super budget build

I was wondering if you guys could suggest some parts for a friend of my mine who is on a strict budget. who his budget is like 400-480 CAD$  with OS and optical drives and stuff. The use of this computer applies to using photoshop, playing, games, rendering etc. He was going to get a laptop for 350$ with i3 4030 with intel hd 4400 graphics 8 GB ram and 500GB space, But I told him that it was a bad idea and he can't do sh** on that. so yeah help is appreciated

For Photoshop and rendering you'll want an 860K over a Pentium, or an i3

Only when it comes to the Pentium vs 860K is AMD better for pretty much every use. Once you step up to the i3 price class, Intel pulls ahead for gaming while AMD's FX-6300 does better for editing/rendering. :)

Honestly for $480 including OS you're not going to get much. OS alone is already $110.

It'll have to be dedicated.

For the GPU, grab a used 270x.

cool thanks, but would a GTX 750ti or r9 270 do the job cuz 260x is only like 10 bucks short

Depends how flexible he is with money 260x and 750ti are pretty much equivalent performance and a 270 is another $35

Honestly with a budget that small you shouldn't be looking at building a new system, you should be looking on Craigslist and Kijiji.

You can get whole decent systems for much less than that.

There's a Haswell i3 system with a 180gb SSD, 2 500gb HDD's in RAID, Z87 motherboard, 8gb of RAM and a nice Lian Li case here for $350.

Drop another $75 on a 270x and boom. System.

Sounds like MSDN subscription licenses if I'm not mistaken. Basically a malware-free version of a pirated OS. Those are single-user license for developers to test out the system they are working on. If you read through the agreement, you can't even play games, or check email on it, unless it's related to testing.

Strictly speaking it's illegal to use OEM license Windows for your own self-build pc as well
