Cheapyy (non oc'd G3258)

Atomicnerd64

Hi all!!

First the rationale. I wanted a G3258. That's it. I got a non overclocking motherboard. I know it is wrong. but it isn't all bad. I will at a later point sell my 4770K to get a 4690T to put on that board and make a lan rig out of that. The G3258 will go on my Z87 sabertooth and get the hell OC'd out of it under water. Anyways....Moving on. I used half the ram of my existing system and an SSD I had in a drawer. only 64 gigs but I will install Windows 7 on my 3TB Barracuda later. onboard graphics and a stock cooler are kind of meh but I'll live with it. I will fold on it as well.

I am a member of the PCMasterRace. I am terribly sad to announce that I own a PeasantStation 3 Super Slim. it's in a drawer away from my glorious PC.

nope. it just has a stupid "CPU Upgrade feature" that supposedly gives you some overclocking

For the love of god leave the base clock alone. There are all sorts of things tied to it and you could corrupt your data on your drives as the SATA is tied to it.

The board may or may not overclock but if it does you will likely need to flash the bios to an unlocked one and chances are you will be limited to 1.2v as the board only has a 4 pin CPU power socket.

I run a Giga B85N board and got 4.2ghz so it's well worth researching :)

Area 51 2014. Intel 5820k@ 4.4ghz. MSI X99.16gb Quad channel ram. AMD Fury X.Asus RAIDR.OCZ ARC 480gb SSD. Velociraptor 600gb. 2tb WD.
