[CS:GO] Cloud 9's New Team! Did they improve?

MattTheMayor

Cloud 9 has changed their roster and have new additions! Freakazoid and Skadoodle to replace Semphis and Shahzam

After watching the ESEA game, which just happened, I believe Cloud9 made a beautiful choice. Skadoodle has clutched 4-5 rounds and won the game with 16-7. Freakazoid is slowly showing that he belongs in this NA team.

In my opinion, I think Cloud 9 made an excellent choice. After Katowice, I knew Shahzam was going to be kicked/replaced.

Post what you think!

To me this is just another example of the flawed NA mindset. NA teams don't lose internationally due to lack of firepower they lose because of not very innovative or well executed tactics. Adding Skadoodle and Freak just seems like another traditional NA move, "WE NEED MORE FRAGGERS!". I mean they have only played a few games so I guess its unfair to write them off so soon but removing Semphis (who is a very tactically minded player) only to replace with someone who's only claim to fame is he was a sick aimer at one point doesn't look good.

EDIT: I am from NA so I am not being an elitist or anything :P

It's more than that as well, you know who Steel is right? He was talking to CLG about their loss the other day, and CLG said they don't watch demos, or their replays of games just because NiP doesn't watch them apparently..

Steel went off on hazed + tarik and said why would you not watch demo's , you need EVERY advantage you can get.  They then started playing 10 man games for practice, and half of them weren't talking it seriously, it seems like the CSGO NA scene is just an absolute joke to everyone in it.

CLG's excuse for losing was "being out aimed"  well, the way to counter being worse 1v1 than the other players, is to make sure your team is never in a position to be killed 1v1, with crossfires on bomb sites, smokes, flashing for team-mates, making sure there's always a player nearby to trade if someone dies, and babysitting chokepoints.  All of which CLG seems to not care about.

I don't think demowatching is that big of a deal as long as FNS watches demos for his calling. That being said knowing an opponent's common spots is a huge advantage. I've seen KRiMZ just waltz into mirage A connector prefiring GeT_RiGhT without even checking the other side, that kind of preparation is amazing.

CLG I personally think are one of the better tactical teams in NA.  CLG (for the qualifier at least) antistratted the crap out of their opponents and they consistently demonstrate selfless teamplay(instead of going for kills they stall for teammates to peek). What I think they are good at is the stuff you mentioned in your 2nd paragraph. I find they have issues with mental fortitude as in closing out games, making comebacks, and individuals being shut down by tough opponents on the other team.

The team I think shows the most promise is Elevate though. They are very strong tactically and they have a decent amount of individual talent on the roster(plus experienced players).

Freakazoid is pretty average, I would expect him to be an equivalent to semphis, or a little bit better.

Skadoodle is the best choice here. His AWP playing style is what Cloud9 was looking for. And he had a nice 4k too(against Liquid, as I remember).

Freak is known for being a MONSTER on lan. Also, keep in mind, this is his return to CS. It might take a while before he gets to his full potential :)

Is it just me or do the NA teams change so much they're not going to get consistent until they pick a team and really practice with them? Though, that's just my opinion.

What do they know of England, who only England know?

Being a monster on most of the NA LANs wouldn't require so much skill. Don't get me wrong, Freakazoid is good, but not really a monster. But yeah, I hope he does good too. Skadoodle is playing a beast AWP right now and he'll probably go back to top 5 AWPers worldwide. About CLG, I thought about adreN. Would be pretty weird, because Liquid is not that bad right now, and adreN is an IGL, but his AWP is good and it was even better back when he was playing with iBP at his full potential(where he was great, I'll never forget his 1v4 against fnatic).

They had a close game against KeyD with two of KeyD's players getting around 11 kills.......

Yes for Na

No for any team out of NA

*Yes i know KeyD moved to NA but this doesn't apply to NA

Nvidia is to Dr Dre Beets as AMD is to KFC.

I was only 9 years old. I loved Fifflaren so much, I had all the NiP merchandise and matches pirated. I prayed to Fifflaren every night before bed. Thanking him for the life I have been given. Fifflaren is love I say. Fifflaren is life. My dad hears and calls me a fuckhead. I knew he was just jelly of my passion for Fifflaren. I called him a Sw@yer. He hits me and sends me to go to sleep. I'm crying now, and my face hurts. I lay in bed and it's really cold. A warmth is moving towards me. I feel someone touching me. I feel someone touching me. It's Fifflaren. I am so happy. He whispers in my ear; "this is my pyjama". He grabs me with his powerful Swedish hands and puts me on my hands and knees. I'm ready. I spread my ass cheeks for Fifflaren. He penetrates my butt-hole. It hurts so much but I do it for Fifflaren. I can feel my butt tearing as my eyes start to water. I push against his force. I want to please Fifflaren. He roars a viking roar as he fills my butt with his love. My dad walks in. Fifflaren looks straight into his eyes and says; "He is a ninja now". Fifflaren is love, Fifflaren is life

They looked damn good against CLG today =)

One of their problems is they really don't have a home map. Sometimes it's inferno, other times it's cache. They're not great at either. Also their CT side is super weak against international competition. They seem to get a somewhat respectable T score often enough, but then fall apart on the "easier" CT side. Skadoodle might help with this being that he's a great defensive awper (and offensive for that matter.)

Cloud9 will fail if sgares doesn't grow some balls and control his team.  C9 has some of the best raw aim in the world.  Shroud is a monster with a rifle and skadoodle is easily the best player in north america, stats aside.  Freakazoid is a fantastic entry fragger and thats perfect because from a lot of their demos its really obvious that most of c9's players really like to hit sites 3rd or 4th.  n0thing has got the veteran experience and the aim to match but in a lot of situations just doesn't work with his team and needs callouts to guide his play.

if sgares can figure out a way to effectively control and coordinate this superstar lineup, i genuinely think they have a chance at international events within a year or two.  give freakazoid time to work off the rust, and give sgares some time to experiment and figure out what works and what doesnt.

imo another huge thing is streaming.  gtfo off your streams and get to practicing.  euro teams wake up and play all day.  its literally their job, they're getting paid to do this.  i realize its a big source of income but reserve a schedule to weekends or something and take more nights to practice.  internet fame is nothing if you get pounded at majors every single season.

Post what you think!

They are in their "honeymoon" fase. In a few weeks they probably go back to the usual NA performance. I really like freakazoid and his chair doe

yeah. it's from all the pressure. but they're doing really good being in the finals against fnatic (rip my skins. im betting on c9) skadoodle is a beast. but sometimes he misses those easy shots. but he has his team mates to make that up.

freakazoid was horrible in the beginning, now hes getting better.

although. sean.. sean.. sean.. he can be easily one of the smartest igl in cs:go. (notice i said one of the smartest, not smartest)

NA Team has pretty unique tactic compared to EU team. Freak and Skadoodle is what their need. an Awper (Skadoodle is decent IMO) and a great Fragger. they fought against Fnatic, showing now NA team starting to make a threat against Top EU Team.
