The beauty and the beast

henrikfraannk

Finally it's my turn to show off my new rig. This is my first build, as i have been a mac guy for now. Still have to use my mac for work (djing), but for study (computer science) photoshopping, java, c#, python, website development, and fun, this is it!

What's in the rig:

Case: NZXT H440 white

PSU: Corsair RM850

Motherboard: Asus X99-Pro

CPU: Intel i7-5820k hashwell-e

GPU: MSI Geforce GTX 980

RAM: 4x Kingston HyperX Predator DDR4, 2666mhz (total 16gb)

CPU cooling: NZXT Kraken X61

GPU cooling: NZXT Kraken X41 + NZXT Kraken G10 bracket white

SSD: 2x Samsung EVO 850 250gb in RAID 0

Above the table:

Mouse: Logitech G502

Keyboard: Logitech G710+

Screen: Asus VS248H

Headset: Sennheiser HD-25II (work headphones)

(The working laptop, 13" MacBook air mid 2013, i7 hashwell, 8gb ram, 256gb pcie flashdrive....)

The only thing that needs to be done, is hopefully a replacement of the Kraken X41, as it is rattling, think it is a faulty pump, but it works for now, and a NZXT USB splitter, as the two kraken require 2 usb headers, and my motherboard only has 2 headers, the top usb ports isn't working. The item is ordered, but NZXT is in general very difficult to get in Denmark. So had to order from UK (same as the G10 bracket).

The screen is definitely the next thing that needs replacement. Would probably be replaced with 3x VX24AH.

Im still not getting constant 60fps in GTA V in ultra, but a little bit of overclocking on the gpu, might help.

What do you think about it?

BTW! See last photo. Because i removed the stock cooler, the pcb isn't attached with a screw/bolt/nut thing, to the mounting site. Would it be a good idea to find a small bolt and a nut, to "connect" these things? Or will this tear the pcb apart, since it is being pulled down because it is heavy?

Looks fantastic! :)

An AMD cpu has no place in a solely gaming build, end of.

I3 4150, Intel HD graphics, corsair CX750M, 4gb ram, Asus H81M-E, corsair 230T, Intel stock cooler WD Green 2TB Gigabyte 550TI

Your GPU looks bent, are you sure it's correctly placed?

I did create another topic, with that question, and everybody said it was normal.. it was worse before i placed the radiator at the top.

Maybe you want to remove the GPU and try wiggling the cooler.

Looking good mate, but I'm getting a bit tired of that case myself since everyone uses it but that's my opinion.

You are right.. But it has been a very tough decision to walk away from the mac, so this is a slowly transition, and the closest thing to a mac-look-a-like-profile-thing..

Yup that's true but in some way I don't find X99 systems not worthy for this case but it could be me xD

The white color scheme on the x99-pro matches the setup quite well i think?

And for those interested in the temp, i find it pretty damn cool. On load in GTA V, the cpu will reach 35c and the gpu 45c. With stock cooler the GPU never went belov 65c..
