Which GTX 970 is better?

Maucho

So, im planning on building a new pc but I have to make sure the components work great, I opted for the GTX 970 But im a bit confused. Which one should I pick?

-I Wanted the Gigabyte SOC version but as long as many people say it is the best, many people say its also very crappy, and this confuses me.

-I also wanted the evga ftw edition, but I havent seen any benchmarks on that one. Besides GB and EVGA I have no experience on buying graphics cards.

-I want to run Crysis 3 at very high 1080p (ive seen the 970 works fine for that) and bf4 at ultra preset.

-My processor is an i7 4790K at 4,6 ghz with 8 cores

-My ram is an 8gb Kingston HyperX DDR3 1600MHZ

-My SSD is a Sandisk 64 gb sata3

Help me please <.<

I'd say GIGABYTE, it cools great and can be overclock hard. If you seek silent, I think MSI would be better.

I have the GTX 970 GAMING 4G, and it's good and quiet, though if i didn't care about looks, it'd be the Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming. You can't really go wrong, unless you go with EVGA. They have had some coil whine problems on a lot of their cards, but even then you'll most likely have good luck.

Technically it's still 4. HT is like a scheduling thing; it's not quite the same as 8 cores. Just FYI before you tell anyone it is to save any possible embarrassment.... I thought HT meant double cores once, and now I shake my head remembering myself telling people that.

I don't do signatures.

Pick any higher tier 970 and you'll be fine. Asus Strix, Gigabyte G1, Msi Gaming, Zotac Amp Omega Extreme, Galax HOF and many more.

i5 2400 | ASUS RTX 4090 TUF OC | Seasonic 1200W Prime Gold | WD Green 120gb | WD Blue 1tb | some ram | a random case

I know every 970 is fine, I just need to know the difference between each one.

Mostly visual differences. Msi and strix will run quieter but warmer while the triple fan cooler designs will be louder but more cooler.

All the cards have the LEDs on them though. Oh the Gigabyte and Zotac's cards are binned.

The extreme and omega cards have a voltage wall as far as I can tell, that or Zotac really crapped out on the binning for the 900 series.

EVGA > gigabyte

EVGA has great customer support, but for the actual GPU, I'd say GIGABYTE.

EVGA actually give a damn about how they put their cards together, Gigabyte doesnt...

I wouldn't say gigabyte doesn't give a damn... It's just they don't try to give their products a premium look.
