S340 Optical Drive Mod

Goldensapling
Go to solution Solved by Interfectorem,

Maybe try using a SATA-To-USB3 adapter? Or purchase an external optical drive with a USB 3 interface? This seems like a much simpler solution than modifying your case. This Samsung external drive is relatively cheap.

Hi, so as we all know, the S340 has no optical drive bays. It looks sexy, but it gets annoying when I need to use a game disc or get drivers (without using second PC). So what I want to know, is has anyone been able to successfully mod an Optical Drive onto the S340? If I end up doing it I'll edit this post. (Probably within a few weeks, school's almost out and I'll have the time)

I'm looking for a more permanent solution, and I switched between OSs and reinstall Windows quite often, so I want to use something that I don't need drivers for.

I use an USB DVD drive and I haven't needed any drivers on Window installs.

That's really the only realistic solution.
