Do any of you linustechtips-goers think that a GTX 960 ti or GTX 970 ti will come out? I was wondering because the GTX 980ti is coming out soon.

No, never.

nvidia has never made a 760ti or whatever, they follow patterns with their naming scheme so you can be 100% sure there won't be

 

The 980ti is a runour, no proof that it actually will ever exist.

960ti - yes but not for awhile (they want to milk the 960 as much as the can)

970ti - i would be shocked if it did come out but im 99% sure it wont.

Nvidia is to Dr Dre Beets as AMD is to KFC.

One makes you broke, the other you can get more of and have a midnight snack from the fridge when hungry again. Once you go Nvidia, you go broked, turn into an Elitist, or get the incorrect amount of VRAM.

1st off, wrong section. This should be in General Discussion. 

2nd, I don't think there will be. The 970 and 960 are strong performers as they are, to only reason I could see there being a 980ti (Which it looks like theres going to be) is for nvidia to use parts that weren't binned high enough to be called Titan X

GTX 760 Ti

 

Both of those existed (although the 760 Ti was a straight-up rebrand of the 670, which means it's slower than the also-670-rebrand-but-with-less-cores-and-higher-clocks 760, probably why it's an OEM-only card, unlike the 660 Ti.)

970 is too close to the 980 for a 970 Ti to make sense, but these is quite a big gap between the 960 and 970, there would be room for an extra product there.

I would doubt that either of those options would come out..

 

The current GTX 960 has a fully enabled GM206 chip, which means that the only way to increase performance would be to design and build a new chip (highly unlikely) or use a partially enabled GM204 chip. The 970 is already a partially enabled GM204, so I'd also consider it unlikely that they'd make an even less enabled variant to be used as a lower price "960TI"..

 

The only way they could make a 970 TI would be to use yet another partially enabled GM204 chip. The 980 is the fully-enabled GM204 with 2048 cores and the 970 is partially enabled with 1664 cores.. They could technically make a variant with either 1792 or 1920 cores, but I would assume that the performance would be too close to either the 970 or the 980 that it would probably disrupt their lineup more than improve it.

 

 

And unless they've figured out a fix to the VRAM issue (which I don't think is possible because it was an issue with the architecture, IIRC), both the hypothetical 960 TI and 970 TI would have the same issue as the 970.

Id really like to see this, because every post i have seen is from rumor sites all referencing other rumor sites. Its one giant perpetuating circle of reporting that never actually has real proof.

I personally want a GTX 960 ti (if it's better than a 960) because it is between a 960 and 970 performance for a good price (hopefully). 

I also am a NVIDIA fanboy.

AMD 300 series will suck (very biased)!

I actually didn't think about the OEM 760ti, I was only talking about GPUs that you could actually buy at a store

also there was no 460ti, 470ti, 570ti, or 770ti so that kinda shows what I was referring to

They did make a 760ti. It was only available for OEM and was pretty much a rebadge of the 670.
