Scissor-switch gaming keyboards

Wassup nerds.

I'm a new user to this site, though I have been watching Linus's videos on YT for quite some time now.

I wanted to know if you people could help me find a decent light-gaming keyboard, but with scissor-switch style keys. I understand that mechanical switches are a heck of a lot better, but I just prefer scissor keys. Don't kill me, please.

By light-gaming, I mean playing games that don't require multiple key presses at the same time. I've got a gamepad for that. I enjoy playing indie games with a keyboard though, mostly because they don't offer gamepad support, lol.

I've done a Google search on this, and to my knowledge, there are only two keyboards IN THE WORLD which are tailored to my needs:

The Gigabyte Force K7

The Cougar 200k

Even if you guys don't know of any other scissor-switch keyboards, I'd like a comparison on the two I mentioned above, if possible.

Thanks.

You also have MADCATZ RAT's keyboard which uses non-mechanical switches, but that thing is stupid expensive. IMHO basically any keyboard will do the trick for light gaming & membrane switches.

Seeing as you're looking for a keyboard for the purpose of gaming, i've come to inform you there is no such thing as a gaming keyboard. Just keyboards.

If it has all the keys you need, whats the difference?

Specs: 4790k | Asus Z-97 Pro Wifi | MX100 512GB SSD | NZXT H440 Plastidipped Black | Dark Rock 3 CPU Cooler | MSI 290x Lightning | EVGA 850 G2 | 3x Noctua Industrial NF-F12's

Bought a powermac G5, expect a mod log sometime in 2015

Corsair is overrated, and Anime is ruined by the people who watch it

Not sure whether trolling is something that happens a lot here, since I've not really explored these forums much, but there is quite a notable difference between different keyboard types. Surely you've used a keyboard which you've found to be a lot nicer to type on than others?

Ah well, whatever.

That seems decent for the price, but what makes this keyboard better for gaming than other scissor keyboards? I can't really see what its advantages are over, say, the keyboards here: http://wireless-keyboard.toptenreviews.com/hp-elite-v2-review.html

Thanks for your input,though

That has nothing to do with it being for gaming or not though. I use a cherry MX blue ducky keyboard. It's not meant for gaming, but it's the best switch type i've found for gaming.

The switch type/layout are what is important, not whether it has gaming swag or not

Gaming swag? Lol.

I don't know what you mean by gaming swag, but I'm guessing it has something to do with backlit keys and multimedia functions. Maybe. Maybe not.

Perhaps I phrased what I said wrong, but I'm pretty sure the feel of the keys affect the gaming experience. Why would you buy a Ducky, anyway, if you don't care about how a keyboard feels? Just buy some nasty old keyboard off eBay for the price of a sandwich.

You've clearly never used a mechanical keyboard.

There's no realistic difference between any mechanical keyboard using the same switch type, but different switch types vary greatly.

A rubber dome keyboard feels like shit to anyone who's used a mechanical keyboard at any length, and everyone has very specific tastes.

You may find your taste is for, say, scissor switches, but you'll never know until you try something like Cherry or Topre or Alps.

I used to own a Sidewinder x6. Then I bought a Logitech G110. While it's true that I've never used a mechanical keyboard, these keyboards have pretty high-quality switches for a keyboard of their type. I'd much rather use a scissor switch keyboard, though, both for typing and gaming.

I know I'm not going to try a mechanical kb, because they're bloody expensive. If knowing what my preferred keyboard type is requires me to spend £100+, then I'll stick with my scissors, thank you very much. I could go to my nearby electronics outlet to experiment on different keyboards, but they don't have keyboards to try.

I like scissor switches, compared to membrane and rubber dome. Not gonna spend a shit ton of money on a Cherry MX keyboard if I can buy a SSD, a much more worthwile investment, in my opinion, for the same price. Fin.

That's not true at all, all rubber dome keyboards are basically the same.

You basically paid for the same keyboard twice, with a different casing and different keycaps.

Errr... I highly doubt that.

The actuation force is different, and one has higher-profile keys than the other. They also sound different.

Different Cherry MX switches have different actuation forces, too. Even though rubber domes might not have a recognised naming system for their actuation forces, they do differ. Obviously not as much as mechanical switches, but they are different.

might sound weird, But apples older keyboards. They are scissor, and I love mine to death. I actually perfer it over my buddys mechanical. I do really like blues though.

look up older apple keyboards. can get them used for 20$, and the build quality is crazy. I game on it just fine, but the normal typing experience is great
