Hey guys  I am building a HTPC and I was wondering if there is a way to turn off/on the PC remotely.

 

Is there a way to do such?

"Off" by Hobbyist Software can turn off the system remotely. Turning it on is another matter entirely.

Well I guess turning the pc off isnt a hassle because you just have to go to the start menu.

 

What about turning it on?

I use to have a very old remote that had a cable that ran into the computer from the ir reciever to provide the option to remotely turn it on. Not sure they make it anymore. I stopped using it because my media center cant dvr my shows if its off.
