Monitor Purchaseヾ(´・ω・`)

Yakusoku

As the title says I'm looking for a nice monitor that compliments my New System. [ CPU: 4790k (May become a 5820K) GPU: GTX980 (May become a TitanX or SLI) ]

So now I'm looking to replace My 3 Year old Samsung 23" HD 1080p. (1050 acutal I didn't know they can false adverstise)...(#ノ゚∀゚)ノ

Preference: Untill I get a 2nd 980 or TitanX I dont see the 4k Monitor to be as smooth as I want it to be. So 1440p would be my choice.

Use: My use will be for Work (Heavy 3D Modeling, Animation and Video Editing) and Gaming.

Question: Is 144hz and or GSYNC worth the premium price? IPS or TN? Is there a Monitor that can be both be good for Work and Games?

Budget: $1000-$1400 CAD

Please and Thank You..ヾ(・ε・`) ! !

Well 10 bit color isn't needed, as you are using a 980.

144hz and G-Sync are both nice, but certainly not needed. If I was guessing, I'd say 95% of gamers use 60hz.

Have you considered an Ultrawide? I love mine, and the panels are wonderful. But they are great for working and gaming.

The projects never end in my line of work.

Sorry but I'm really not very familar with Monitor's what exactly is a 10 Bit color? And why is it not needed?

I tried Working on an Ultra Wide before I didn't like it. I'd rather have two monitors.

The question is do you really need Gsync and 144hz?

I recently got this for myself and couldn't be happier..

Especially for color accuracy I'd go with a IPS Panel

It has a wider range of colors it can produce on screen, but a 980 can't output 10-bit color.

It's 10 bits per channel color depth.

It's used for professional grading.

SNIP

If you just need a decent IPS 1440p monitor check out the Dell U2715h, Asus PB298Q or AOC Q2770PQU

If you want 144hz and gsync for gaming the Acer XB270HU

if you need 10bit for colour work, you need a quadro

I see, so for professional grading I need a better GPU. Is the TitanX fine or it has to be a Quadro?

Also I do play very competitive in SC2, Dota2 and they said GSYNC will remove screen tear. I know only but a few GSYNC ones out yet but would a Work and Gaming Monitor come soon? I would really purchase a premium Monitor if it works for both games and work, rather than upgrade again or get another one just so I can do both. (Multi Purpose is what i mean)

Then there is TN to IPS. Which one do I really need? People say the Asus Swift despite a TN is a preety good one, but some say IPS will still be better. Is it really noticable to a degree that its bad to be Working on TN (Asus Swift or otherwise) and is it really better to work on an IPS? I've only been using my Old Monitor so I have no clue.

P.S: I know this is going to sound of as very picky but I know a lot of people sometimes buy because of aesthetics. So I'd really want the monitor to have a base like the Asus PB series or Swift. It doesnt have to be Asus but its really a personal preference. Please no kill|・ω・`)コッショリ)

Thanks for the reply everyone..(人´∀`*)!

Needs to be a quadro, which is a different type of GPU completely. Much more expensive (but gives pretty much the same gaming performance). My personal opinion is that ultrawides are the way to go, and is what I'll be buying in a couple of weeks.

I have the Asus ROG Swift PG278Q (Only 144Hz Gsync 2k monitor available right now) and it's beautiful, g sync is definatly worth it, makes a big difference, and everything is so smooth with the 144Hz refresh rate, the only 'downfall' is that it's a TN panel not IPS, but tbh I have another monitor, Asus MX series with AH-IPS (Advance High Performance) and while the colour accuracy isn't quite as good, it's still pretty amazing for a TN panel, one of the best I have seen, I would highly recommend it.
