i7 3770 still worth it?

Go to solution Solved by Lord_Karango17,

Will this Motherboard work well with the r9 290x ?

Yeah, it would be fine

With motherboards these days, something just works or dosent. Since they have gotten let and less complicated over the years (intel is putting more things on the cpu) there isn't a direct link between the motherbard and performance.

So I'm going to build my gaming PC soon, and I found a guy that's selling a used MoBo MSI B75MA-P45 with i7 3770 non-k version for 1500 SEK ($190)

So is the i7 3770 still good for gaming with the MoBo

And I have a sapphire r9 290x Tri-X

It's a great CPU - decent is understatement - so get it.

Very good CPU. I have the K version and it's still going strong, even if it's a stock.

It is a fairly capable cpu, and the non K cpus can still be overclocked with the multiplier to a speed of 4.1ghz, so if you are getting it for cheap, then go right ahead

Besides most games are not really cpu limited, and the main reason for having an i7 right now is to keep the PC multi purpose...

And what about the Motherboard ?

It is fairly low end, but it wont really affect the performance.

You will just be missing a few features, on the higher tier motherboards
