Shutdown/Restart problem

Hello,

I've just built a new computer today and I've noticed that it won't restart if given the command through software (e.g. selecting restart from Windows).

The computer failed to restart when doing the installation of Windows, when selecting restart from the motherboard and from within Windows, just to clarify the screen does go inactive and power off but the tower remains on.

The system restarts perfectly fine using the hardware button.

It's also worth noting that I did have the same problem with shutdown, but this now appears to be working after installing motherboard drivers.

UPDATE: The computer does restart when asked to from within Windows or the BIOS however there is no display output. I know this as I can remote into the PC once it reboots. I just cannot get anything on screen.

I have upgraded my GPU and still have this issue.

Any advice?

Thanks,
Jordan

@JR94 you said you used the power button to restart it. Do you mean setting it up in Control Panel so that pushing the power button causes a reboot?

It restarts using the reset switch on the PC, pressing the power button when it's in the black screen state doesn't seem to do anything.

Have you tried waiting a little longer?

It sounds like you are restarting the PC before it is finished shutting down.

When I the PC reset from a BIOS change I made I waited about 5 minutes and nothing happened. Seems like it just doesn't physically trigger the power off/power on once it's finished.

Does anyone else have any ideas on this? It's really bugging me and I haven't found a solution yet.
