Spend extra time build outside of case or no?

So i am getting parts shipped for a new pc but, once they are all here for me, should i take the time to build outside the case to avoid DOA parts? i am buying from amazon, newegg, NcixUS and outletpc. currently at the time of posting this, i have my MOBO, case, cpu cooler

yea it easier to build things outside to confirm working parts or not

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

Yes. It would be a good idea to do that in case anything is DOA. It'll be easier to take out parts if they're outside of the case.

Well in that case that would be ideal. Better safe than sorry! And why not build it "twice" more joy!

I really don't see the point in doing so personally, unless its the mobo that is DOA every other component is very easy and quick to remove.

Here's a list:

CPU: intel core i5-4690k (planned oc to 4.4-4.7ghz)

CPU cooler: Cryorig h7

MOBO: Asrock z97 extreme 6 (supports sli and oddly enough, dual gigabit ethernet)

GPU: Gigabyte GTX 970 w/ windforce cooler on it

RAM: Gskill ripjaws X 8GB DDR3-1600

SSD/HDD: Crucial mx100 128gb ssd and seagate barracuda 2TB

Case: NZXT s340

PSU: seasonic SSR-650M 80+ gold.

EDIT: color scheme is black/blue

I have never done it to be honest :P also never received a DOA part, guess I got lucky :)

tbh, DOA parts rarely happen :P my friends all built their pc's with little knowledge of pc's and never worn an anti static wrist strap

CSGO, GTA V and other games. the Monitor is 144hz so i need high framerates. don't judge plz :)

I never used a antistatic wrist strap myself, and built my PC on my bed :D Talk about luck

personally i don't do it, you could do it if you want to make sure not to scratch components in case they're DOA. But honestly i see no point. in the end it will probably take the same amount of time if a part is DOA.

Only things I did out of my case was putting the cpu in and the ram in, the rest I did after I put the motherboard in the case.

I personnaly build directly into the case, I don't mind at all having to take it apart afterwards.

I just built mine right into the case and fired it up from there. I didn't have any DOA parts (luckily) so i didn't have to do it again.

 

Advice if building straight into case: DO NOT do any serious cable management before seeing if your PC posts. It will be a huge pain to undo all your careful wiring to remove a DOA part.

 

I would advise that you build outside of the case first just in case, I only built mine right into it because my laptop wasn't working right and I needed a computer ASAP to get a school project done, so I rushed the build of my PC
