Kodi Questions

So, I'm turning my laptop into a bad HTPC temporarily just to show my parents, see if I can convince them. Currently setting up Kodi, I have a couple of questions:

1. What file types can it identify?

2. The plugin selection is very limited. Are there ways to install plugins not listed there? (internet browser plz)

3. I installed the sonos plugin, and it just warns me that the IP is not set. How do I set the IP, and what IP does it want me to set? IP of the computer? Of a sonos player?

4. What remotes are it compatible with/how do I set them up?

Just a guy who peaked at building back in the days of the GTX 980. If you see me here, assume i have technical knowledge akin to a committed hobbyist builder back then. If something's changed, you'll need to tell me(nicely plz). I'm probably asking for help with the modern build scene since I have no clue what's going on.

Maybe you should ask this on a Kodi forum, since these are very Kodi-related questions.

There is probably no internet browser for Kodi because it is only made to be a media center.

I know that Kodi can take USB input and HDMI-CEC.

yea it plays mp4 and mkv so you're basically covered

2. look up some youtube videos for kodi addons (that's where i got mine from). Is there anything specific you want? I think kodi comes with a basic browser but never tried it

3. Probably the ip of the sonos device but I've never had one so not sure about that.

4. Any remotes that are compatible with your computer. Once it's set up you mainly just need basic arrow keys, enter/select, and back button. There are other useful ones but 90% of the time you won't use them and if you do you can map the remote control to those keys.

use a old desktop/laptop, reformat the hard drive and install KodiOS over it then use a usb to use the Automatic set up, it will preload all the Apps you need
